hey as you people can see im a newbie to the video game designing world. I have alot of question and i would like your honest opinions.
1. I have the game called Rpg Maker 2 for PS2, yes i have read and heard from lots of other people saying it has its good and bad points, but i dont have the best pc at the moment.
2. Can the ps2 rpg maker 2 be made into a final fantasy battle system?? because ive watch a video that it can be done but it might of been on the pc version???
3. Im having a hard time trying to do the scripting part of the game and i would like to get some pointers for me to work on step by step.
4. Also ive heard it takes a alot of time and patience but i have the ability to enjoy of making my own game since im making a pretty funny one since its an idea my friends and I are going to do. but most likely im going to do all the work i just use their ideas to make the game more interesting.
so thats my story of trying to make my own game.
If anyone has more ideas i would like to hear them since im new to the gaming designing world thankyou for your help.
I don't know if anyone on the site uses the ps2 RM, some might have. I know the site doesn't openly support it for obvious reasons (getting your game available for download and play on a pc for example). I don't know anything about the ps2 RM personally.

If you wanted to get into PC RPGmaker then rpgmaker 2003 (maybe still the most used rpgmaker on this particular site, next to VX perhaps) will most likely run on ANY computer seeing as it's 8 years old, rpgmaker 2000 is also pretty commonly used and that's 11 years old.

I know VX and XP can cause some lag on older machines, my computer's about 3/4 years old (and not briliant) and it it struggles occasionally with VX and XP games, very rarely, though.

My point is, generally, rpgmaker (all versions) isn't a very intensive program and I can assure you that you can most likely do a lot more with a PC rpgmaker than a ps2 one (except for the 3d graphics support offered by console versions - You'd be limited to 2D graphics).

Also, yeah, making a proper game is a long process and a lot of work (I haven't finished a proper game yet myself :P) which is why people procrastinate and cancel their projects so often.

Anyway whatever you do, good luck with your projects and welcome to RMN :) I hope you can manage to get the help you need here.

First of all, your PC is probably good enough for any RPGMaker program... They're not that powerful or anything. I've been doing this since RM95+ and we had a real shitbox laptop back then.
Secondly, I'm not entirely sure the capabilities of RMps2, but regardless... You will have a difficult time sharing your work. If you're not concerned with anyone playing your game, I for one would like to see screenshots of what RMps2 can do.
here is the laptop im using tell me if this meets the requirements for the rpg maker version for pc??

operating system: windows vista home premium (6.0, build 6002)
processor : Intel(R) core (TM) Duo CPU T5250 @ 1.50GHz (2 CPUs) ~1.5GHz
Memory: 1014MB RAM
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
System Manufacturer: Sony Corporation
i have 550MB space available
If you can run vista you can run ANY rpgmaker.

(In fact, the VX in rpgmaker VX refers to "Vista & XP" as in Windows. - rpgmaker XP is obviously designed for windows XP... The even earlier versions will run on a Windows 98 machine)

Edit: Also this thread is probably in the wrong forum.

does it cost money to download it? or is it free???
RPG Maker 2003 and all previous versions are under a commercial license but are no longer sold by Enterbrain (and were never sold in English - All English versions are "fan translations" and pretty dodgy in terms of legality)

VX and XP are still on sale from Enterbrain. Whether or not everyone that uses them has actually purchased them is another matter entirely.

This query has been extensively answered already.

My guess is that you saw a PC version of RPGMaker, but since I don't know what's possible with the PS2 version, who knows?

3. Im having a hard time trying to do the scripting part of the game and i would like to get some pointers for me to work on step by step.

Check this page. Scroll down. Along the side, there'll be a list of which engine you want tutorials for. Hope that helps!

If you're new to the program, then I can understand how everything seems so daunting. Making a small project to get yourself used to your maker of choice, or even getting a feel for which will be your preferred maker, is generally good advice.

If anyone has more ideas i would like to hear them since im new to the gaming designing world thankyou for your help.

I think I just answered this? Anyway, welcome to the shoe. Feel free to explore your creativity with us!
Yeah this is more a help+request topic.
