WINDOWS 7 64BIT AND RPG MAKER 2000 = ISSUES! D:

Major issues. From what googling I've done I think this is somehow related to the fact that Im running windows 7 64bit.
My project folder was in the "Program Files(x86)" and I did not encounter the usual rollback/failure to save issues that some people apparently have. I simply run rm2k as an admin, and it appeared to run and save just fine.
That is, until one day, I saved and closed rm2k only to open it again later and find 3 maps destroyed. Set to default size with the default water tiling. I lost a few good hours of work and have not gone back to working on my project since.
So basically, my maps got randomly destroyed. I noticed it was having problems sometimes creating the "RPG_TEMP" folder but I managed to make that work. But now, I cannot do any work for I risk apparent random map corruption. :/
This is not rpg maker PLUS, by the way.... Should it be? Can anyone shed any light on this issue? Should I just graduate to the latest maker? Thanks for your input in advance :)

I don't think there is any tech support for 2000. There is some for 2k3, if you count Cherry. I would try 2k3, and if you don't like it, I would migrate to either VX or XP, your choice. About this, I have never heard of PLUS, so I have no idea there, and I am not knowledgeable enough on this topic to tell you. I would try re-installing it again, and make sure it is in Program Files, and also I would keep your project folder in rpgmaker 2000's folder. (Ignore if you already have that)
All the editors and engines work on my 64-bit windows 7, so I don't know what your issue is. You may have a bigger problem that's not as related to RPG Maker as you think..

Well, 2k = 2k3 for me. So I do also support for 2k3, of course.
About map corruption: Do you have any "PC cleaners", "PC optimizers" or something like this installed? Remove them. Tools like that tend to delete everything inside the "Temp" folder, including your maps (RPG Maker stores them in a folder inside the "Temp" folder when you work on them).

I do not have any cleaners or optimizers or anything like that running. Makes me wonder though if something is in fact clearing parts of my temp directory.
I do have MSE antivirus always running in the background, and steam. Thats it. I can't think of anything that would be causing this. Perhaps its a conflict with rm2k itself.
I have not seen the problem on rm2k3.
This problem began to occur after I had successfully copied maps from an rm2k3 project to rm2k by opening them both and simply using the built in copy/paste functions, then saving the project. Upon re-opening rm2k and the project (and closing, and opening again a few times) everything appeared to be fine. I did some work, then I lost a few maps. Two of the maps I lost were not imported.
I probably should have noted the above in the first post. Damn you, hindsight.
Oh... that's why normally the RPG Maker doesn't let you open more than one instance (regardless if RM2k or RM2k3)... unless it's hacked (some translators hacked this part "by default").
The only way to safely open more than one project at the same time is using my RPG Maker 2009 Ultimate.
