I MADE IDEA GENERATORS

Posts

I'm sure it still contradicts itself, but its like pollishing something. I find rough spots and contradictions and prevent them from happening. Suggestions are one thing... doing them is another. :-)

People have even suggested other random generators, but they are just that random.

Interesting idea with the .pdf book. I remember one of my friends participated in some Halo fan fiction with 100 people writing the same story that turned out to be 1,000 pages long. When one marine was killed the next person took over as the marine that did the killing.
I suppose to motivate myself to the idea generator. Here's where I last left off before I started the battle engine >> A basic game questing generator.

That is impressive, and I've never heard of it before. I think I will try to find that, just out of interest. :)

I can understand what you mean by polishing it, though. Well, it is still a nice tool as well, and I am very thankful you put it up on here, even if it is more of a novelty then anything else.

Oh, on that note, The topic page for the project is now up in Creative, and here is a link to it:
http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/9495/?post=308739#post308739
It needs some polishing, and my wording may be a little rough, but it conveys the point and gives you that plug as well. ;)
You're welcome and thanks for finding it useful.
Aha, no problem and I just finished polishing the project page. Well, I'm off to writing the first story for this project.
I've been adding to the generator part giving more details to the party generator. Fleshing out the party members. Now I think that I'll make how your 4 characters progress in the game. Who has kids, who finds love, who gets sactificed, who becomes a leader, who becomes a villain and so on. Then I'll post what I have.

So far I have this for the party generator

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Your party consists of four characters:

The first is a manipulative rookie cleric who goes by Colette Heiliger who has an affinity for disease research. Colette has been known to be the leader of weak. As a cleric Colette always valued unarmed combat. Colette is the youngest of three children born to a farmer named Reinaldo and a singer named Tayloe. Their love didn't survive after Reinaldo disappeared after talking. Colette is skilled with magic wand. Colette's dream was once to create a disease.

The next is an emotional middle aged thief named Carlita Bronchetti who would do anything for the country. Carlita is emotional in a positive way that causes Carlita to write poetry about spirituality. As a thief Carlita uses daggers and the shadows. Carlita is the youngest of five children born to a farmer named Rafael and a musician named Angelena. Their love didn't last long when Angelena's lust got between them. Carlita is okay with bow. Carlita's biggest achievement has been to find a lost friend.

The third is a manipulative teenage commoner by the name of Ilda Delore who would do anything for fame. Ilda's confidence is overwhelming. As a commoner Ilda thinks about overthrowing the king to make a better life for the people. Ilda is the youngest of five children born to a commoner named Alisa and a farmer named Pamelia. Their love didn't end happily, because a wealthy nobleman prevented their love. Ilda is excellent with a mace. Ilda's dream was once to find a cure.

Last is an assertive rookie healer by the name of Scarlett Cordew who loves lore. Scarlett is a take charge type of person. As a healer Scarlett always valued unarmed combat. Scarlett is the eldest of four children born to a singer named Clyde and a singer named Beverley. Their love didn't last long when Beverley disappeared after talking. Scarlett is pretty good with a pair of knifes. Scarlett's ultimate goal in life is to have a money making scheme work.

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Your party consists of four characters:

The first is an emotional middle aged hunter who goes by Alease Farver who loves healing magic. Alease is emotional in a positive way that causes Alease to paint. As a hunter Alease is known to hide for days tracking big game. Alease is one of five children born to a farmer named Lewis and a farmer named Bert. Their love was everlasting and they were married on top of a hill overlooking the sea. Alease is excellent with a pair of boomerangs. Alease's greatest thrill has been to marry a brunette.

The next is a manipulative young singer by the name of Roy Obregon who would do anything for fame. Roy hides low self confidence with arrogance. As a singer Roy has become quite well known in the land. Roy is the youngest of five children born to a singer named Murray and a musician named Sung. Their love didn't last long when a commanding king prevented their love. Roy is proficient with mysticism. Roy's ultimate goal in life is to have a money making scheme work.

The third is an alcoholic teenage singer who goes by Zachery Eifert-Breault who would do anything for the country. Zachery's alcoholism tends to get friends in trouble. As a singer Zachery is pretty popular and well known. Zachery is the only the only child born to a singer named Vonda and a musician named Donald. Their love didn't end happily, because Donald was called by the queen. Zachery is skilled with mysticism. Zachery's ultimate goal in life is to live in a dream.

Last is a wise teenage commoner by the name of Ezequiel Lacassagne who would do anything for a friend. Ezequiel has the ability to learn from others in the persuit of knowledge. As a commoner Ezequiel is always dreaming of a better life. Ezequiel is the eldest of five children born to a farmer named Malka and a musician named Aleta. Their love didn't survive after a wealthy nobleman murdered Malka passed away. Ezequiel is skilled with a gun. Ezequiel's biggest achievement has been to live on a mountain.

Seems like this generator only supports fantasy type ideas. Any of them for a more modern or futuristic type?
In short no. In the new game generator that I haven't uploaded yet there are modern or futuristic types. The quests are pretty generalized and can work for anything.
From time to time there are some unfinished parts, like "it can use and drink potions". And also it generated me a "Cheap Adamantium Armor", which was rare and common at the same time.
For general use it's good, I had even a good time generating some stuff just for fun lol. But with those little stuff fixed, you could use it to generate stuff in a game, let's say, a Diablo-ih game, or even make entire parties generated procedurally (a list of quests, a set of heroes, enemies, a backstory and stuff).

Anyway, it's very interesting,

Thanks for posting Orochii!

Use and drink potions. I've been trying to find that. Unfortunately use ... and drink potions are 2 totally coincidental lines. You mean with enemies correct? Do you happen to recall what kind of enemy? I'm thinking that I missed giving skills a certain enemy type. There are a lot of enemies :-)

Fixed the cheap adamantium. There should not be any cheap adamantium.

So I think that I can tie all of these generators together to spit out a game. Sure there's no engine for the game but whatever.

Here is a road map for me to follow:
- Generate a game universe, theme and style (verbally)
- Generate the regions (1 town, 2 dungeons = 1 region)
- Generate items to get past roadblocks (need a ship, hookshot, boomerang, teleporter)
- Generate the party (4 characters)
- Generate a big picture an overall story for the game (save the world, conquer it, while finding your lost dad or something)
- Generate big non player characters in the game
- Generate quests for each area that will develop your characters (brawler becomes soldier, character gets over fear of swimming, character falls in love, character dies)
- generate small non player characters in the game
- Generate enemies for each area
- Generate weapons & armor for each town based on enemies and party
- Populate the game with NPCs.

Or it can stay useful as an idea generator.

Road map sounds real good.
The enemy kind were thiefs. Some of them were like "tend to use steal and drink potions", some of them missed the "steal".
The road map seems good too.
Before I start going to the road map I should put out the current version with the game generator and a few more details and bugs fixed.

You are to visit a strong warrior in a grand temple south-east of the decrepit mountain. This warrior sells toys. At the mountain you will need to sneak your way through while finding clues on where to go next. Along the way you will need to negotiate with a powerful madman to fulfill the mission. Inside the grand temple you will find two locked doors.

Rickie Sutic is the name of the strong warrior. This warrior is okay with a sword and sheild and can usually be found studying plants. Sutic has several enemies and often gets harassed by them.

lol

Anyway, this seems like a very useful tool, especially since I hope to make a lot of quests for my game. I'll most likely be using this.
I'm sure RPGs have had you sell some weird stuff no matter how totally uncharacteristic it is... like a barbarian sold a hat. :-) Thanks for the comment and glad I could help some people :-)
I've been playing Dragon Warrior 8 for the first time. They have some really good enemies with interesting and original attacks and abilities. I'm gonna be stealing them to put into my enemy idea generator. Things like the frog face which when you hit them once they flip to reveal a much stronger attack. When you hit them again they flip back.
"You are to visit an evil princess in a vibrant mansion north of the decaying trading post. This princess sells terrain magic of great value. At the trading post you will need to fight your way through while finding clues on where to go next. Along the way you will need to party with an enchanted merchant to get the influence you will need to complete the mission. Inside the vibrant mansion you will find a dark version of itself."

"Evil capitalist princess" is actually a really good villain concept.
Its funny because this could work. She doesn't sell magic... she could sell terrain land. I'm not sure if there was capitalism in midieval times. Thanks for the post :-)
Chants ressurect on topic.

edit >>

Spent the past 90 minutes working on the town description generators. The towns are now known for things good and bad. From terrible rulers to good art about women.
Apparently, I are to escort a weak count from a decaying town to a haunted ship south-west of the decrepit temple. Sounds cool.
