WATER PUZZLE

In my new game, I plan to have four elemental dungeons. Each one features its own unique set of puzzles. While thinking of a water puzzle, I had an idea. I want to make the type of thing from pokemon platinum where you press buttons, and it raises the water level, thus raising floating platforms to cross. Help?
It might depend on what maker you're using, but you can read this for an attempt at making a water-lowering dungeon work with VX's RTP.
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

The simplest way, especially if you're using random battles and don't have block puzzles or other interactive objects, would be to just have two maps. One with high water and one with low water. And when you hit the switch, it teleports you to the other one. If you are a beginner and aren't sure where to start, this is the method I'd recommend.
Of course, if you do it all on one map, with a million events that activate each time the switch is hit, then it's possible to properly animate the changes instead of just teleporting you to the other version. Way more complex though. You'd basically be on your own with this method, since there's no way I or anyone else can really describe to you how to animate every single event to look like they're all moving the way you want.
