I have a problem When i rename a chipset it automatically changes the bit depth to 32 bit. I'v tried paint.nets method but it doesnt give me the option to save as 8 bit.
are you saving it as a .bmp or .jpeg file?

I recommend Idraw3. I never used paint.net.....gimp2 is good and its free. but try idraw first heres the link: idraw
I was saving as png. Does gimp let you save pngs as 8 bit?

Its for chipsets of 2k3 btw.

i believe so, sorry i haven't fired it up in so long. it is a full features pic editor so I imagine it can. Idraw will do what your looking for, I use it to edit my chipsets all the time.
Paint.NET lets you save as 8 bit .png. I do it all the time.

Do you not get this dialogue box come up when choosing to save as a .png?
Best suggestion? Photoshop. It does everything for me. It's a must have. That, and Cool Edit Pro for audio editing. :P

But oh, it might be hard getting those two programs since they're not free.... >_>'
