SUBMITTING AN ENGINE?

Hi everyone!

My name is Tom and I'm from Scirra, we've release Construct 2, the follow up to Construct Classic you have on your engines list. Our website is here

Just wondering how I submit Construct 2 to your engines list? I signed up but can't see if it's possible!

Thanks for your time

Simply request it from one of our admins.

I've had requests from our memberbase to add Construct, so when we went live with this latest version of our website on the 5th, I added Construct Classic to the engines list. However, I didn't add Construct 2 at the time since:
1) no one asked for it yet
2) it was (is?) still in a beta stage of development
3) I was unsure how Construct 2 games are distributed

I checked out a couple of the demo games on Scirra for Construct 2 but they launched and ran in a browser window. I was unsure how that was achieved (and I haven't taken the opportunity to investigate), so I was wondering how that would integrate with our site code (which currently assumes that a game has a physical download file, such as a zip or exe, that end users would download to their own machines), and whether I had to modify the code in some way, shape or form to support in-browser games.

So, I can add Construct 2, but I am uncertain how games themeselves will integrate...?
Hi Kentona,

Thanks for getting back so quick!

Construct 2 currently exports only to HTML5, so the games will run in browsers. Integrating browser games onto your website carries it's own risks, the best way to link to them is just link directly to the game URL and not host them yourselves.

Construct 2 is still in beta but you can make games in it already.

If that's not suitable for your list I understand, I thought it was more of a general list of resources which is why I asked :)

Tom
No that's okay. I already had Construct 2 on our dev server anyway. We have the ability to link to a URL for a game download, so that works.

Construct 2 will be up shortly.
I can see a possibility for rmn userbase/leaderboard crossover for browser-based construct 2 games if they were hosted on rmn :P
Awesome thanks, we appreciate it :D
Hey Tom! I was going to try and mention RMN to Scirra at some point, but it seems like you've found us anyway. :P

There is one other thing that I think should be mentioned: Construct 2's export system is extensible, so there might come a future when it may be capable of exporting into other formats (like Windows, MacOS, etc. binaries). So that is always a possibility!

Anyway, it's pretty awesome that Construct is recognized on RMN now.
Thanks ElectricalKat, you're right yes we're designing Construct 2 in a highly modular way. There will be an exporter SDK at some point possible which will enable other people to develop exporters if they want as well! (We'll also be developing more hopefully :) ) We're very excited about the future of Construct 2.

If there's anything RPGMaker need from us feel free to send us an email at any point!
If you happen to have a better and more descriptive description, I'd be happy to change it here.

(I usually try to write the descriptions in a more neutral, informative style, rather than trying to "sell" the engine. I don't know enough about Construct 2 though and just spliced a description based on stuff I read on the Scirra website)
Sure, how about:

Construct 2 is a new drag and drop game maker that currently exports to HTML5. There is a free version, a standard edition and a business edition.

Currently Construct 2 exports to HTML5 only, but more exporters are planned in the future. HTML5 games can be played on a wide variety of devices which is why they opted to go for HTML5.

Construct 2 also comes with free music, sprites and sound effects. The paid editions come with more resources but the free edition has some as well.

Construct 2 is the follow up program to Construct Classic, the open source game maker which to date has had around 500,000 downloads. Like Construct Classic Scirra has stuck to it's idea of 'No programming required' by using an event based system.

Because I wrote it I'm sure it can be criticised for being too sales like, if that is the case please feel free to edit it!

I also made a video:

Feel free to embed it anywhere if you want! And we have 2 demo games:

updated.

Keep me posted about any important developments, and I can update the engine with new bulletins.
Awesome thanks :) Will bookmark this thread for updates.
