Anyone play this game? I bought my wife a DS a while ago and I never play it but I'm thinking about checking this game out.

I own the first one, it was pretty fun. The combat is a very welcome addition in harvest moon games, but this game had a few annoyances. Some monsters would be able to poison or silence you. Reason this sucked was because you couldn't teleport out and you would eventually die. I don't think I played it long enough to try and find a surefire way of preventing that, but it certainly was frustrating. I ended up just avoiding certain monsters. It was worth the money for sure, but that might be annoying if she is just starting with a DS.
The video you posted is the first of the three that are out right now. I've read that the second and third installments to the series are much much better than the first. So you might want to skip the first Rune Factory and go to third, since Harvest Moon-esque games tend to not intertwine. Even if they did, there wasn't really a story behind Rune Factory, so there's not much to be missed.

Isn't there a potion you can take? Anyways I've also been playing Rune Factory and I fell in love with it. The game totally added to the game mechanics started by Harvest moon. I've been playing the Wii version: "Frontier".
The second and third ones are really good. I did play the first but didn't enjoy it, mainly because the battle system wasn't very intuitive and the controls were a bit hard for me to get used to.
I'd have to say that the third is best game play wise, but the second is better (just) story-wise. Mainly because you also play as your child.
But yeah, the third is my personal favourite, which is strange since I usually prefer story over gameplay, but seeing as the story and characters are almost as good as the second, I couldn't not choose it. Besides, the main character is just awesome. And cute~<3
