RPG MAKER 2000 ON VISTA?

Is there any way to install and run 'RPG Maker 2000' onto a 'Windows Vista' machine? My laptop died with a large ongoing game still unfinished on it and the replacement I have for now is running Vista. If I can't continue my game I will be mighty annoyed.

I'm running RPG Maker 2000 on my Windows 7 machine, so it should be possible to run it on a Vista machine. I don't recall if I needed to run just the install program in compatibility mode or not, but that's a possible trick.

You can also consider using a virtual machine running Windows XP, if all else fails.
Interestingly Windows 7 is fully 2000 compatable and Vista isn't - which speaks volumes on Vista (annoying to use, ugly to look at and darn fiddly!) I'll keep trying though :)
just right click and go to the compatibility tab, click to run under windows xp mode. then run it as administrator. that should work for you.
*laughs with manic glee* it works! Thanks everyone!
Interestingly I occasionally get this message now when running a test-game:

'an illegal order for floating point number operation'

has anybody heard of this?
