The second moon of Eluzicath shone with a grin over the campfire. As weary travellers prepare themselves for the battle to come, they recount their journey so far. The road was long and trecherous leading to the ultimate challenge. To face down the man in black armour.
"Remember the time in Eress, when you threw that guy through a window, Cad?" barked a far from sober woman, using a donkey as a means to stay up-right. "We all nearly died in that fight. Good times."
Across the site, a man quietly fixated on carving wood, blatantly ignores the woman. However, her rantings were causing creases to form around Cad's eyes. Controlling his anger, the man concentrated on his carving.
“Good heavens, woman. Do you mind?” demanded a middle-aged man seated beside Cad. Suddenly, he felt two warm mounds on his upper back and fingers crawling through his thinning hair. “I – I say! Please, I beg of you!”
With a curly voice the naked woman harassing him whispered, “Oh, baby, I like to play with you...”
“For modesty, there are children here!” the robed man chirped, unable to control the pitch of his voice.
“Mmm, let them watch, Storm, baby.” Despite protests, she began slipping her tongue into and around the poor, unfortunate baffoon's ear.
Across the site, sat two children indeed. A girl in robes draping from her form, and a little boy wearing his father's armour. They exchanged glances when Storm was screaming like a struck pig, though the boy quickly looked away.
“I say, that sizzling sausage does smell delightful!” the boy declared, directing his address to a man overseeing the campfire.
“Yeah, it's smoked meat from the Catoblepas that we fell. The meat is very fat, and makes for perfect sausages,” explained the man. “Perhaps someday, I shall teach you to make them, Maka.”
“How wonderful, Mien. Perhaps after this battle tomorrow?”
For a moment, Mien had no answer. “Perhaps,” he said at last. His eyes bore into the fire gloomily, as tomorrows task sank further into his heart.
The girl beside Maka gave a fond sigh, causing the boy to gasp in fear. “Do you still stare at me, Faith?”
“It's just that... um, your eyes... are... well, um, nice... in the moon,” the girl explained.
“Y-yes... my eyes are, thanks?”
Truly with perfect timing, the portly bald man known as Storm stood up with an outburst.
“Curse your wild spirit, Badonkadonk!”
From the background, standing at the edge of a cliff near their gathering, a woman said, “Silence you fool. It is your luck alone that this goddess of lust has chosen you. Never in your life would a woman normally find any interest in your uncomely ways. Be silent, or be gone. I tire of this nonsense.”
Spluttering between retorts, Storm finally sat back down. Wasting no time, Badonkadonk was harassing him again.
At this, the drunk woman clinging to the donkey began to howl with laughter, so much so that she fell over. This was the final happy moment in our tale today. How did it come to this? To such a fateful meeting of unlikely companions stirred towards the common goal of tomorrows' battle? Let us travel back, and recall their journey...

A perfect day. The reason that Cadeon moved his family into the hilly region, Era'on Dale, was for the perfect days. Here, the wind barely bothered them. Rain passed by in hours. Forests were lush. Wild boar frollocked like geese to the nearby lake. Never a bad day. Always, a perfect day.
After kissing his wife on the cheek, and patting his small boy on the head, Cadeon hoisted his heavy axe over his shoulder and set off into the wood. They had planned to build a horse shed and chicken coop. For this, the woodsman would have to begin foraging for wood. Though the hunt is never difficult in Era'on Dale, Cadeon liked to hike, and did not want to alter his view from the cottage. Instead, he chose a young tree near the forest, but far enough away that he could only barely see his cottage. It was the perfect day to cut down a tree.
The chore was short lived. After he had heaved four heavy blows into the tree, there came a great boom sound, followed by a gush of air. In a panic, Cadeon turned to see his cottage – on fire! The roof was ablaze and a trail of smoke chased from a demonic creature lifting into the air on giant wings. Forgetting the tree, Cadeon dislodged his axe and took off towards the cabin. His wife! His son! Did they escape? What demon was this, who breathes fire from its snout, and carries on wings of a bat?

The last stone was in place. Standing back, Cadeon stared down on the graves. After a moment, he placed a wreath on one grave marker, and a small boy's cap on the other. As the wind tugged a stream of smoke billowing from the smouldering remains of Cadeon's cottage, the man himself felt his feet turning. Legs lifted and fell, one before the other, blindly stepping away. Heavy eyes could not lift nor notice as his feet carried him away. Away from the pain, away from the ruins, away from the death. While his feet carried him, Cadeon's hand picked up his axe which was lodged in the ground. The feet continued to press on, faster now. Determined. Where was he going? What was he doing?
At last, Cadeon's eyes rose. He knew. The demon who breathed fire, was going to die...

How long had it been? It felt like years. Cadeon stopped to rest on his journey outside of a farm. The farmer had offered a jar of milk to replenish Cadeon's health with. It gave the woodsman heart to carry on.
“It is rare to come across such generosity, thank you.”
The farmer had a hopeful nervousness on his face. “It was nothing.”
“Is there some way I may repay your kindness?” Cadeon wondered, noting the farmer's expression.
“Ah, there is... though I would not like to trouble a traveller such as yourself. It is dangerous.”
“Continue.” Cadeon had nothing to fear, even death was a welcome end.
Licking his lips, the farmer explained. “My brother has been missing for a week. We fear the Chimera has him, and it is a task none of us here could undertake.”
Handing back the empty bottle, Cadeon asked, “Chimera? What is that, a monster?”
“Yes, a fire-breathing demon who lives in the caves north of here... It is too dangerous, I'm not sure why I—”
“—Fire-breathing? What else do you know about this creature?”
“You wish to take this quest?” the farmer wondered, fumbling the milk bottle in excitement.
“Aye. Tell me of this...Chimera.”
“Well, I am told the beast breathes fire from its goat head, and eats the victims from its lion head, and spits venom from its snake head... When ever anyone gets near to see it, it gives flight before we can tell exactly what it is. Everyone who has truly witnessed the beast has never returned to tell the tale.”
“Chilling, indeed. If it is the final chapter in my own quest, I shall be at ease,” claimed Cadeon, hoisting his axe to his shoulder. “If your brother be alive, he will be returned to you. Many thanks for the milk.”
~~~~
Opening his eyes, Cadeon's memory flooded back. There were many caves in the northern mountains. To his fortune, Cadeon had stumbled onto the right one. Indicating this was a pile of charred bones near his feet. Hot breath near his face announced the Chimera. Evidently it enjoyed to play with its food. Such an ugly creature too! While its lion head gave a roar, its goat face bleated and its snake tail hissed. However, it was clearly not the monster that Cadeon was searching for. Just another annoyance.
Reaching for his axe, Cadeon found a stabbing pain surge through his arm. Poison? Blearily, he took in the surroundings. A dark cavern complete with stalagmites, bones by his feet, and little else. Save, the Chimera, who was looming over him. The creature had a playful curiosity playing in its eyes.
Pawing Cadeon with a massive paw to wake him up for chase time fun, the Chimera purred.
“Away, monster, or I'll have your head!” Cadeon snarled, heaving in agony as the poison slithered through his body.
“Not if I take it first,” announced a stranger's voice.
Both Cadeon and the Chimera gazed to the cave entrance, where a woman stood. Over her shoulder sat a large broadsword. It was the last image Cadeon witnessed before slipping into darkness.
When Cadeon came to, there was a strange transformation to the cave he last remembered. It had been replaced by an apothecary's office. Dried herbs hung on the wall, shelves were lined with odd ointment and powders he had never met with. Instead of a Chimera, there was a man with a half-moon pince-nez.
“It would appear our guest survived. So, this is the correct anti-venom. I'll just go relabel it,” said the man, taking his leave.
“Fare thee well?” asked a strangely familiar voice.
Cadeon found it to be the woman who had saved him. Yet, he had never truly seen her face. It was both bold and beautiful. Young and restless. It was generally hospitable, as faces go. As for her form, it was nearly as muscular as his own, though her cover was far more revealing. A mere loin cloth, and breast plate hid her luscious frame. All for not, as Cadeon put the pieces together.
“The Chimera...?”
“'Tis slain.”
“It was not the one... Many thanks, miss.”
“If 'tis the same, call me, Purdy Peppy. 'Miss' is too formal. That is not something I can hold with.”
“Formality? Then allow me to forego any more of them with you,” Cadeon said, standing up. Pain shocked him into sitting back down. “Ahh!”
“Do not strain thyself, the poison rans deep. The anti-venom will take time. Thou must rest.”
“I must find the winged fire-breathing devil.”
“Thine quest can wait, stranger.”
Sinking back to his bed, with great reluctance, the woodsman spoke, “The name's, Cadeon,” before he slipped into another deep sleep.
If you wish to request a "chapter" image, please take into account:
-Plot points need to be displayed in pantomime.
-No sequentials, only the crucial point in the story being told by the picture.
-No dialogue or thought balloons.
-Please bare in mind it takes about 2 hours or more to complete these, so don't make it TOO complicated.
-If you want to introduce a villain or innkeeper or extra person they encounter, refer to the original request sheet.
-Keep in mind this is linear and the requests before yours matter! No point requesting a picture that includes a party member not involved yet.
-Finally... I'd like to keep this rolling quickly, so its kinda like I'd be drawing one picture per chapter ... Meaning not multiple images per situation, with the exception of if I get caught up in something cool (lol).
As I look over these characters, it has become apparent that instead of doing individual images for each character, I should focus on a group shot. They will work well together!
Ahem, this is a kid-friendly site Despite, so I'll have to place her tastefully in the groupshots (read:untastefully but covered up by someone).
Sorry for the delay gang, apparently City of Heroes is free to play now. If anyone knows me, they know I have an obsession with super powers... Welp! I've made like 4 accounts just to make different characters up.
edit: proof I'm working on it.
That so reminds me of
Emmie is such a good role model for the younger party members: "Remember kids! Don't drink unless you know how to hold your liquor! Or unless you can back up your insults in a fight!"
If nothing else, I will have fun drawing these groupshots. Super sexed naked woman. Dork disapproving mage. Carrot hungry donkey. Kids surrounded by people in their thirties, and an alcoholic. Oh yeah...
Emmie's not an alcoholic. She can stop whenever she wants. :)
Rofl!
I already have a funny image idea involving Make!'s donkey carrot, Badonkadonk, and Storm looking completely shocked and flustered.
The first few times I saw your sketch, I didn't notice the carrot and thought the Donkey was looking at Badonkadonk with that face.
I am so inspired to write a game about these characters. I think they're interactions would be hilarious.
