Do you like kung fu flicks? Jackie Chan and/or Jet Li? Then The Forbidden Kingdom is for you!

I went to watch this movie on Saturday. I had some pretty high expectations because I love Jackie Chan and Jet Li and like a lot of their movies. I was worried, though, that it would turn out poorly as many other movies who advertise "Look! We got these TWO AWESOME ACTORS ...together! In the same movie! Watch me (give us money)!" Well.

I worried for nothing. The Forbidden Kingdom exceeded my expectations.

If you aren't familiar with the plot, the jist of it is some kid in Vancouver, since this is where it is shot. I recognized some of the landmarks Chicago or Boston or something rescues a "magical" staff from an old Chinese guy's pawn shop when some punk kids with amusing accents break in.

Anywho, this kid gets transported to ancient mythical China, where he teams up with Jackie Chan (as a drunken master) and Jet Li (monk) and some cute chinese chick to return the staff to the imprisoned Monkey King (also Jet Li) on Five Elements Mountain.

The action did not disappoint, and the kid isn't a big a tool as you might expect. The fight scene between Jet Li and Jackie Chan was awesome (and 10 mins long!) and definitaley lives up to the hype.

If you like kung fu movies at all, go and see this.

I'm going to see this just for the Jet Li and Jackie Chan fight aye, plus it doesn't seem like a bad way to pass an hour or two.
Um, it also has the Monkey King in it.

In case you have no idea who the Monkey King is, well, he's the most overpowered trickster-hero in history! He can fly around on clouds, transform into any shape and use basically every magic spell known to man. He's also completely invincible, and he can use his own hairs to create life-sized clones of himself, all of which are just as powerful as he is. He literally destroyed half of Heaven before Buddha himself sealed him under a giant mountain...and even then Buddha had to trick the Monkey King into agreeing with it!

Monkey King > Loki > Anansi > Jet Li
Yeah, i definitely want to see this film. And the thought of not only Jackie Chan but Jet Li in the same film is totally awesome. Jet Li is also in the upcoming "The mummy 3" film.

Some of the parts where pure cheese, but you can't deny the awesomeness of Jackie Chan and Jet Li fighting one another.

The action was top notch, and overall the movie was better than I expected.

Also, if Jackie Chan and Jet Li really got in a fight, Jet Li would tear him apart.
But Jackie would be it more entertaining to watch.

Jackie in his prime would fuck over Jet Li haha. This movie still isn't out over here(New Zealand)plus I'm tied between annoying white guy, and Jackie VS Jet Li? maybe a dvd rent is now the best option 8)
He actually wasn't as annoying as I expected him to be.

And, I decided this was the closest thing we will get to a good Dragonball movie.
Jackie Chan has always been one of my favourite actors, bar none. If he is as funny as he is in this as he is in other movies then I will definetly enjoy this film. If only I could find someone to go with. :-\
