RM2K3 ODDITIES IN WINDOWS7

Hello, I am wondering if any of you running Rm2k3 in Windows 7 also face these problems :
1. Can't use F5 to reduce the size in testplay with Fullscreen mode
Always thought this is possible?
2. Screen... tearing?
I faced this problem a few years back and have changed my machine twice since then (for reasons unrelated to this problem though). However, the issue persists!
To describe it : When I move in map (larger than 15x20) there is a "line" going down from the top.
Someone said it is because my machine is too fast so the loading is a bit messed up. Uh, any other way around this? No, Vsync doesn't work since the only setting is for 3d and I am pretty sure Rm2k3 hasn't advanced that far yet.
Thanks !

In order to use f5 you have to remove it from fullscreen mode first (window mode it first) and then F5.
Screen tearing never happened to me, is your video card driver/whatever updated? Try setting the thingy to windows xp? (you know when you select properties)

Actually, you can size down the fullscreen rendering by pressing F5. It has the same effect as when in window mode (it reduces size by 50%) but leaves the game in fullscreen. I have no idea why it wouldn't work in Windows 7, though. =x
2. Screen... tearing?
It's mostly got to do with your video card and/or drivers. Try modifying the settings around? I would really try the vsync option just to see if it has any effect, just because something looks 2D doesn't mean it isn't using the 3D rendering capabilities of your video card.
Yeah, that's what I want to know, does it work in Windows7? Or is it a rare case?
I just spend the day downloading SP1 hoping it fixed things but noooo.
In regards to setting:
Well, I did try Vsync and all that stuff in Nvidia driver setting (as well as graphic properties) but even if I override Vsync (i.e. always on, for Rm2k3 shortcut) nothing changes. Yeah.
And ness, uh, I was kind of hoping it's not about the driver. This machine is pretty new (2011) and well, the driver was 2011 version too (though in Feb) so that might not be the case.
Last time I tried to upgrade the driver, my old laptop decided to die (probably unrelated to the driver change but still...)
This is kind of disheartening, since last time I just use full screen + F5 to counter it, but now...
tl,dr version:
Still need help, anyone have the same issue (and fix if possible)?
Thanks!

It's probably outdated by now. It's already October.

Yeah.Is that being targeted at RPG_RT.exe or RPG2003.exe? If it's the latter, vsync is not going to do anything as the game itself is run through the RPG_RT.exe runtime and is completely separate from RPG2003.exe.
author=Archeia_NessiahJust going to give a heads up that updating to the latest drivers isn't always the best course of option (though it is definitely something you should try if you have the chance). There are certain cases where deliberately using older drivers have helped with running certain software.author=s_wIt's probably outdated by now. It's already October.

You could also try looking for any cases of screen tearing issues with your specific Nvidia video card (what is it, by the way?) via Google or something and see if that lands you any clues too.
EDIT: Could also try changing your monitor's refresh rate, though I'm not certain if this will have any impact.
Hmm, actually I target the Shortcut, so I am not sure if it is RPG_RT or RPG2003
Still if I try to open RPG_RT.exe directly from the folder, my laptop (Acer) sent me to Clear-fi (Acer's program to connect... files I think, something like that). Not sure if that's suppose to happen.
But do you mean if I want to force V-sync then I should force it on RPG_RT.exe? In the RM2k3 folder?
Also refresh is at 60, always, and can't be changed.

The game runs through the RPG_RT.exe runtime located in your project's folder (the folder where you keep maps, .INI, .LDB, and .LMT files, as well as subdirectories for the various resources). If you need to target a specific application to force vsync on, that's the file you need to target.
Update:
Sadly, there is no option to choose that program, the only .exe available is RPG_RT.
All right, since method 1 failed, how about we focus on the F5 function instead?
So I came into conclusion that the reason I could not use F5 is because of the GPU Scaling that is in the laptop. I am using the native resolution, so the image scaling option never came up. If I reduce it a bit, I can choose the panel fit setting (center image, stretch, maintain aspect ratio)
The problem is, I want to disable it if possible and allow RM2k3's default (which I assume will allow the F5 function).
Center image is too damn small (can't F5 to enlarge it); Stretch is well, messed up and maintain aspect is a little bit too big for my taste.
In the past I can set it via Nvdia control panel, but for some reason, I have to use IntelGraphic's processing this time.
There is no "disable GPU scaling" option strange enough.
Any ideas?

Unless there is some sort of severe misunderstanding between us, that's the program you need to choose.
As for the latter issue, I have no constructive ideas since I never really used Intel's onboard video cards or their drivers. It does perplex me why you'd go there to modify settings on an Nvidia video card, though. Anyone else here who's knowledgable with Intel's stuff? D=
Welp, sorry, that's a misleading error there. The only one available is RPG2003.exe
Can't choose the Rpg_rt (it just doesn't come up when I decide to "add program" in Nvidia setting).
Yeah, it's a bit strange that I have to use intel's to customize the scaling option (no option to do so in Nvidia). From what I have gathered past few hours it seems disabling GPU scaling in Nvidia for the newer driver is also an issue (strange enough, there are reports that the disable option is greyed out).
So I dunno, I don't feel like updating the driver if it doesn't work at all :\
Can anyone confirm this? (Nvidia user)

In that case, one workaround I can think of for the vsync issue is to force it on globally (there should be global and per-program options, or at least that's what I see with my Nvidia driver). Can't say if this'll be bad for your other programs, but it's an idea. I'm guessing RPG_RT.exe doesn't come up since it's not a formally "installed" program as far as Windows is concerned.
I'm not seeing anything regarding disabling GPU scaling with my Nvidia driver, but it's a bit outdated at v1.5.2400.10 (with a GeForce 6200 PCI video card) so it's probably not much help for you there. =(
