Well I always thought the Playstation 3 was a reliable piece of hardware, I mean I keep it in a well ventilated area, always make sure it's clean and dust free but no, I suddenly try to play The Orange Box a couple of days ago and I get a.."Error 80010514" I even called up the Sony help line and they kept asking me really stupid questions like "Did you hit the Playstation 3 with a hammer?" and kept going on about how reliable and proud they are with their system, got kind of annoying after a while.
Anyways I have Grand Theft Auto IV on pre-order and this sh!t happens so it has to be sent away for a MONTH!!! so I cant even play the game Ive been waiting for since it's announcement.
Edit - To elaborate more on "Error 80010514" It's an error with the Blue Ray drive or whatever and what it does is it doesn't read Blue Ray discs anymore, which is the only thing I want it to do just a few days away from Grand Theft Auto IV!

Oh wow. That totally bites, man. How long have you had it?
Sony? Buid reliable products? Hogwash.
My PS2 was the first console that I ever had to perform maintainance on, and later on it it went up and died (although that was mostly my fault, but I only opened the thing again because it wouldn't work with my Sony component cables)
When I first got my Wii, its GPU was damaged or something, I kept getting black artifacts all over the place. When I called in about it, Nintendo was a lot better than this story and told me what I had to do to send it back for free (well, it could've costed money if I didn't have spare boxes and foamies lying around) and they just replaced my Wii in a week or so.

wow, that really does suck. Your not the only one though, i have had plenty of problems with consoles. My xbox360 when i bought it had to be taken back 4 freakin times because every one they had in there store were damaged and wouldn't work. I had to wait a week for them to order in a new one that wasn't damaged. Luckily i got the thing for free. :D
Thanks guys, yes it really does fucken suck. WIP it's a 60gig, got it at launch which was I think.. May? Oh yeah and it's going to be wiped so i have to start all over again with my games.
This reminds me of an awesome 360 joke.
Reggie said recently that the shelf-life of a Wii is about an hour. Someone at GAF replied, "That's the same amount of time for an 360's play life" or something similar. Either way, I laughed my ass off and hoped my 360 wouldn't die. =(

I thought Sony were a reliable company? I mean I still got my PS2 working from way back when it was the new hot thing in town.
knocks on wood.

I don't trust any companies. Never ever ever ever have.
Everything of mine, if it had the Sony logo on it, broke sooner compared to a similar product that didn't have the Sony logo. Usually by significant margins.
Or I just have terrible luck with Sony products.
