As many of you know, it's Thanksgiving Day here in the United States! On this day, we feast it up and think about what we're thankful for. Many of us are thankful for a decent lifestyle, a supportive family, and good health. All of that is certainly more important than gaming, but it's still a big part of our lives.

Let's face it: without gaming, our lives would likely be quite different. We really should still give thanks to it. What are some gaming or game design-related things that you're thankful for? Are you thankful for a certain game idea, a friend who helps you brainstorm, or a certain RMN/commercial game that inspires you?

I'm thankful for this community, mainly because it has challenged me to work harder on my own games. It has also served as network in which I have met a lot of great people. I'm also thankful for the RPG Maker programs: they are tools that are easy to use for someone like me who isn't a programmer. And, of course, I'm also thankful to old school Squaresoft for developing the Final Fantasy series. I might not be a raging fanboy, but that series introduced me to the RPG genre, so that alone is worth some kudos.

And, of course, I'm thankful for all of my friends in this community - and all of you for spending time here!

In the world of gaming and game design, what are you thankful for?

A tear just came to my eye. I am thankful for your post, since it inspired me to rename the topic ;)
I am thankful... For excellent mapping and functional stories in games...
Oh man...Well I guess it's not bad to go overboard.

I am thankful for my bro, Helrouis, for introducing me to Sphere. And I am very thankful that I didn't learn that program even since that eventually lead me to RM* and I'm happy about it. I am thankful for coming out of my hole and went to GW, if it's not for that, I wouldn't meet, Ocean, Skie and a lot of my closest friends right now.

I am also thankful for the failed team projects in the past, if it wasn't for that, I wouldn't meet other people or learn new things still. I am also thankful that I even attempted a fangame, since I met TDS, YF, Ruka and it made me even better at making graphics. They're great people~ I am thankful that I moved to RMN, even though I had issues with it before, or I wouldn't have met a lot of people. And I am thankful I didn't let rumors affect my judgement of people or I wouldn't have met like-minded people like Decky and Kyrsty~

I am thankful for even having multiple projects, even when they're not done, because I met a LOT of people. A lot that I am proud of being acquaintance with and the creative process I got from them, specially with rhyme~

Overall, I have no regrets as to how I went with my RM* Years. Because I think it was worth it. I get invaluable experience and awesome people to work with and learn with~

I don't even know what's Thanksgiving Day about, we highly retarded finnish highlanders don't celebrate it.
Anyhoo, I'm thankful for my brother for introducing me to Steam because console gaming is too mainstream for me.
If it wasn't for games, I wouldn't have started drawing, which would mean that I would remain a complete nobody and a loner.

Thank you, games, for giving my live some meaning.
I'm thankful for Valve. And Steam sales related to holidays I didn't even know existed until my mid-teens!
I' Thankful for my family.
My Father
My friends the few I have.
Today I watched about 2/'s of the parade.
Then I watched the original Miracle of 34th street for the first time on netflix.
It's a great movie and I'm convinced that he's Santa.
I'm thankful for the support of the forums and everyone who puts up with my mistakes.

I wish for oh goodness. Umm To release a demo by monday.
I wish for a better place to live.
I wish for my Father to get a job as a Teacher.
I wish for my Family to not miss me when I'm not there.
I wish too meet someone in the future whom I can be happy with and share my troubles with.
I wish for my dad dad's health to get better.

What do you guys wish for? And thankful?

I am thankful for Captain Picard. May his seemingly infinite wisdom guide my fan game to the place I want it to go.

*This is about gaming people! I think you should re-read the OP.
I am thankful for Miyamoto and...(how am I a sonic fan and I don't remember the name of the most famous programmer in that game! V_V) for giving us Mario and Sonic! I'm thankful for Kikyama, for Yume Nikki, in fact...I'M THANKFUL FOR JAPAN! THEY MAKE THE BEST GAMES I'VE EVER SEEN!!! Who wouldn't be thankful for them? They are one of the main reasons that we HAVE games, other than the people in america who made the first video games...usually they get their games a year before we do, and I'm just happy that they can be happy ^_^ I'm also thankful for the games themselves because I can make fan-games, remakes and all that other crap you guys love, I know you do ^_^. I am, finally, thankful for EnterBrain who, sucks at pricing this crap we use to make games, at least allows us to use them, just like Dan, the person who made 2k/2k3 free, and american ^_^.(only hatred I have against Japan is that not only do they make the best stuff, but they don't give it to us immediately, and it seems they price it higher here when they do!)

I thank games for those more or less little bits of soul I was offered by the best of them, that enrichened my life, for the hour's on end of dream, and for the oh, so rare pleasure, of laughter that some procured, and... for making me discover what participating in a forum is.

I am thankful for the countless number of jaded people on this site who post their theories in the game design and theory so I can copy paste it into my notes.
I am also thankful for Legionwood,Hero's Realm, Drunken Paladin, and many other countless games that inspire me today.

I can just remember them! But maybe I SHOULD start taking notes ^_^
I'm thankful for the idea that people can make games in their spare time and charge nothing for it and sometimes have be pretty good.

I'm also thankful for:

*Dragon Slayer II: Xanadu, which I'm using as one of the main inspirations for my project's mechanics

*Sacred Earth: Bonds (Following the progress of the remake is how I got to know Skie)

*Various MS-DOS RPGs found on Abandonia (including Heimdall 2)
Bahhhh, I've been reading "Big brother - the Orwellian nightmare come true" all night, and kinda tired to elaborate so I'll just list the stuff very briefly...

I'm thankful for the following:

-emulators.
-rpgmaker.
-charamaker1999.
-open source content.
-pirated content. XD
-e-books.
-internet friends.

I'm thankful that we've had the chance to find RM* and consequently all the wonderful people we've met, the games we played, and the various communities (both dead and alive) that played host to them.

Happy (belated) Thanksgiving!
