LOCKERSPACE, DATA-INTENSIVE SUBMISSIONS AND YOU

Good afternoon gentlepersons,

I am making you aware of a little-known facet of the new RMN4 architecture. I have the ability to manually increase (or decrease!) the amount of available lockerspace a user has.

But why? It means that if you want to host a large file to go along with one of your submissions, you can! Just shoot me a PM explaining your submission and I can increase your lockerspace the appropriate amount. I do not want insufficient lockerspace to be a barrier to submissions.

For example, if you wanted to host a large MP3 for a podcast, or a demo game for a tutorial or a script, and you didn't have sufficient space (or hosting it would claim too much space), let me know and I can help you out.

(Eventually I might be able to beef up particular items with the ability to upload files, but it isn't there yet, so this will have to do!)
I love you. Thank god for this. Buh-bye, rapidshare!

Cool. Any chance this could be done for submitting game downloads as well? I wasn't able to submit Vacant Sky Act III for a direct download because it was 155 MB and I'd really like to be able to monitor the download count.
I really need to figure out why large files have issues. Because if it has issues with the Game Download at 155mb it might have issues with the locker file upload too...

I'll get back to you on that.

Ah, okay. I thought I read somewhere that there was a limit in place intentionally. Glad that's cleared up and thanks for looking into it.

There was a limit listed somewhere at some point, where projects above a certain filesize were to be held to stricter standards, but to my knowledge this was rarely enforced.
No, there is an actual hard restriction placed on our webserver config for files larger than 150mb I believe. I am looking into it.
Okay, the max filesize has been bumped up to 450mb.

Large filesize submissions are still up to the discretion of the submission queue staff to accept or not, of course, but the actual physical limit has been increased.

Thanks a lot too! Now I can upload game files into the rpgmaker.net server without worries! :)
Let me know if it actually works! it was completely untested, so I have no idea if your large uploads will timeout or something.
