Well first, i would like to incorporate scavenging into the game, and I have no idea how.The player would have to look for everything in the game, including equipment, food and water etc.I would also like to incorporate a sleep HUD underneath the health and mana counts.
Now for the visual presentations...
I would like to place a few spots where the player could zoom in to see something(book, or a picture)...
Thanks in advance!

Someone who knows VX better could help you on this one.
Do you use the default battle system or another one?

I use the default system. And it seems that eighter no-one knows to use VX, or doesn't want to share his/her knowledge.
Do you know you can set Item Drops in the monster page of the database? You can select which item every enemy might leave at the end of a battle, though I don't know if that's what you want for a scavenging system.
Also, if you make it so we can see enemy sprites on the maps, you could make some kind of scavenging system through events.
I get the feeling that your questions are about really basic stuff. If so try searching for beginners' guides on VX through google.

Actually Feld's idea is cool. In Infection, a zombie-killing survival game, you can find food in wastebaskets. It really adds to the theme of survival.
You could also make it so the character has to steal supplies from shops or something like that. The narrative side of it can change whether your game is about survival or abundance.

Look, the game is about a man surviving a demon invasion.Ever played TES IV(Oblivion)? Well, this is what happens in Kvatch if no hero in shining armor showed up.The hero is the player, but this time the invasion is fought from the inside. To turn from the already thousand time repeated story of the hero who fought for a week without even taking a crap, I want the player to have to eat, sleep, drink in between the combat. So if anyone can really help me, it would be nice.Since i can't find(yes, i'm a noob) it anywhere on the net.
