World's Dawn developer let's play

Hey everyone! Wow, it's been a long time O.O

I wanted to drop by because I'm returning to World's Dawn three years after release (!) for a developer let's play. I'll be going through a good chunk of the game with a friend and sharing behind-the-scenes stories, community comments, and laughs aplenty. I thought some fellow RM folks might be interested in how the project came together and why certain decisions were made, that sort of thing.

I've been going through a bit of a rough patch lately, so this cozy, casual series has been a good way to decompress and stay connected with other players and developers. If you think you might enjoy it, there are a few episodes up on YouTube already and more to come very soon! And please do let me know what you think. I've never recorded anything like this before, so feedback is certainly welcome.

Thanks all! I really appreciate the support this community has given me over the years.

I'm so excited for the full game!!In fact, does this game have the dating sim part of harvest moon as well? And if it does, is there a way to develop gay relationships?
That's something i've been looking foward since i played the first harvest moon ;-;

Yes, the game does eligible characters to romance, 3 boys, 3 girls, and choosing a gender does not matter; the beginning of the game it asks you for you sexuality preference

That's awesome! <3
;w;
Thanks for the tip for taming the stray cat on your Facebook page: 10 fish it is!! {Don't be silly you & cats are like Bismarck & Herring} But what if I Get ATTACHED??? And they don't carry over to the full game---NOTHING carries over...
---
If you don't bet, you cannot win.
---
BTW, cats are family---we don't date. So that isn't a requirement; for me, anyway...
Very much enjoying "World's Dawn", although Summer is almost over---and the Nature Spirits do not seem to have Autumn quite ready yet! :) Couple of nosey questions, though they may be items not yet fully implemented: I've been feeding a stray cat... any chance she'll come home with me at some point? (I'll feed her anyway, she wasn't doing well on her own, according to when I found her); and how does one get the Album? I taken a few dozen photos!!! (...or maybe it's a few hundred... I cannot see them to tell!!! Probably all shots with my thumb on the lens---humph.) I am very pleased with this project so far---but when Autumn & Winter are added, and one plays through them... does the whole thing grind to a halt at the end of Winter? I realize that may be an unfair question, it might make a job too big to reasonably expect to be done... <sigh> it will still be nice when the last two seasons are added (hopefully, one can pick up a cloak before Winter (I like the rain and thunderstorms, but it's a wonder I haven't caught pneumonia yet---I had to go out during every single one... (just as well, if there is anything one can do in the farmhouse besides the bookshelf and telly, I haven't figured it out!)))
ETA expired last year---is this a bad omen???
Does anyone else have an issue where most of the main game lags once you reach summer? The minigames I've tried seem fine, but it's really obvious when all the dialouge takes longer to load than it did in spring and when I did part time work I heard a lot more of the song than usual.
And I've tried with a few saves too.

Not a bad omen, just an overly hopeful estimate from yours truly. Sorry for the lack of updates recently! I am hard at work on autumn and should have more news on a release date soon. Darn life always getting in the way...

Have you tried playing on a different computer? I've heard of 1 or 2 other people having issues with lag, but it's very strange that it starts at the summer season...

I haven't tried yet, but I might since the computer with the game on it is due a backup. Though my other computer is kinda old and ailing so I really doubt that it would run the game better

I've managed to speed it up by selling my spring crops (I bought the fridge just so I could keep them).

Edit: I also noticed that the save files which are in summer are bigger than the ones which are in spring.
Just wondering is there any romance in this?
Yes! There are 3 guys and 3 girls you can romance and eventually marry, regardless of which gender you decide to play as.
Love the concept of this game. RPGMaker.net could definitely use games like this. Subscribed :) I'll give this a full go once all 4 episodes have been released.
Okay, this shows the 18th of Autumn---I work in the jewel mine, CANNOT find 10 apples to save my life; let alone get the pony that my parents never did <WAILING WEEPING!!!>, I feed a cat, a dog, and a hen who does not lay eggs---but does crow (something weird there, I betcha), I till the land, I converse with sage glops and feral shades, I fish (for cat and for cash)---I use the blender at the pub and was given a slow cooker: the purchased luxuries are limited to a bedspread and drapes. How could ANYONE have EVERYTHING in this picture by the middle of Autumn?!!! The price of any old thing is beyond double-digit inflation, and you only get one chance to acquire most things!!! How can you cook your True Love's favourite dish, if on the only day that the only gadget that makes it was available on the Shoppers' Channel, you were short a dollar?!! The road to True Love may not always be smooth, but even so...
(AND she's got a second-storey put in by Benjamin already too... )
Okay--Confess! Where is the Grow-Op on her farm? No wonder everyone's so happy...

(grumble, grumble; she's got a cloak, and I'll bet a horse in the barn too... grumble, humph... unfair, just plain unfair)

---Hey, where did the bookcase go?!!!!
How can you know when "Prophecy" (Quest?) is going to be on the telly without it?!!
I'm having a hard time stopping myself from jumping up and down screaming in excitement like a small child lol. Seriously though I love this genre and I am really looking forward to playing this.
Autumn bug report:
Day 22, Sunday, got off the pony, then all of a sudden, knees were locked. My character slide all over town

Wedding dinner at the Midnight pub: seriously screwed up. There's a sheep in the middle of the pub. You forgot to delete it. Every time I click on it, the guests changed. Sometimes even the villagers who haven't moved back in town showed up for the wedding dinner. How rude!

After the wedding, a lot of villagers were still excited about the coming wedding.

After the spouse moved in, I chose Hunter, he didn't always come home. Sometimes he just disappeared. Did he really bring any income? It doesn't look like he did. Flaky husband!
Thank you for pointing out those bugs! The magical sheep in the tavern should already be taken care of in the latest download, as well as a few other issues you addressed. I really appreciate your help and your patience as I work to iron things out and get the game to a more polished state.
Great game, nonetheless.
I do have a little tiny problem with your item balance, though.
It seems to me farming makes too little. Or rather, items are too expensive to afford with your miserable income. My character spent way too much time mining, which is no fun. But it seems that's the only way to be able to make enough money if you want to buy anything. (Plants take a whole week to grow. Fishing takes too long.)All the "gifts" I could afford were the free ones. I searched all over town and made tons of spiced rum, because it's free and popular. This is not really a problem. But it makes all those fun cooking recipes kind of useless. Ingredients are either hard to come by, or very expensive. One would have to spend a couple hundred to make a meal for one (1) gift, while he can give out spice rum freely everyday. I never had to cook, besides the piping stew for the mayor, until autumn festival.
Just a little something that nags me after three seasons.
And... Those darn rats!! They are always in the way and make me go home late. Can't we kill them? Can we?
I agree with Samji---prices for basics are too high and there is no worthwhile amount to be made tilling the soil... you just live without.
