Announcement

A Big Name and New Resolutions

I'm still trembling a bit from a mix of excitement and anxiety. Our RPG horror game, Kamikakushi, has been recognized by a big name: Tara A. Devlin, the author behind the horror anthology series Kowabana. I'm not worthy, AAAAAAAA....

Thank you for taking an interest! We at ObakeNekoWorks will do our best to provide more entertainment~

Progress Report

Yasu's Spiriting Away version 2, Electric Boogaloo

After countless drama and procrastination, I can safely say the update is finally, FINALLY done.

Besides major bug fixes, what else is new?

- Revised dialogue

- Ramped difficulty for the endgame chase scenes/music box puzzle

- added some flashbacks that further explain Hisame and Shin's backstory

- replaced face graphics and sprites for Ueno and Yamazawa.

- replaced the sprite for short-haired Yasu

- replaced the sprites for Ueno and Yamazawa's mothers. People complained they didn't look "Asian" enough. ... wut?

- replaced the sprite for the cute little hairy youkai in the True End route. Too many people complained it looked like a wig. Now it looks like a bunny.

- added a book in the Omake Room that helps explain some mythos that wasn't clear.

- added two optional dialogues for both Mefis and Shin that hint at who/what they respectively are.

- fixed up all of the face graphics

- added a bit of developer's foresight in the True End route that some players could abuse in 1.0.

- added some more beta sketches in the Omake Room (drawn by yours truly!)

- very minor map fixes and one jumpscare (it's nothing super bad; I'm not THAT cruel, you guys).

So what's next after this? I do have yet another horror planned, but I'm gonna shove that to the side for now because it's raunchy comedy time! (Don't worry, peeps. It won't be TOO spicy~ ;p)

Announcement

The Tribe has Spoken

I'll get back to work sooner or later. It turns out the drama between my friends was exactly that: drama. And being ghosted for two days while having a panic attack. I don't want to burden you with my by-proxy burdens so I'll keep it simple: I don't owe people a second chance nor can I force them to change. I wish them both the best.

I still hope when all this nonsense is over, my friends and I can laugh and play games like old times.

Announcement

...

I would like to apologize in advanced, but I'm afraid I'll have to put the update on hiatus for a very personal reason.

I think... I think two good friends of mine are no longer in this world.

I need some time to process what the hell happened and mourn. I'm sorry... about all of this.

Progress Report

Brief Hiatus

Sorry for yet another delay on the update, but I'm gonna have to go on a week-long hiatus for now. When Dad makes up his mind about his dumb car shows, there's no changing it. ^^;

Side note, my girlfriend has been hard at work on her own project, so check us out on our itch.io page.

Progress Report

Hey-o!

Hey-o! I'm not dead! It's a slow process, but things ARE getting done on the update. All that remains is me making sprites and writing one cutscene (to replace something that was text-only in version 1.0).

Some players were curious about the relationship between Hisame and Shin. I hope these cutscenes provide the answer you're looking for.

Announcement

Update delay

I'm really sorry to announce this, but I'm gonna have to push back the release date of the update for a few days for my birthday. Oh, don't worry. I'll be right back on it but for the small break I'll be someplace nice and sunny~

Progress Report

Progress~ Progress

Hey, y'all. It's been a while, hasn't it? Finally motivated my butt to work on Kamikakushi.

Unfortunately, I need to readd the doll puzzle. I... accidentally deleted all traces of it. (This is what happens when you let depression cloud your judgement.)

What's new?

- Revised dialogue

- Ramped difficulty for the chase scenes/music box puzzle

- added some flashbacks that further explain Hisame and Shin's backstory

- replaced face graphics and sprites for Ueno and Yamazawa.

- replaced the sprite for short-haired Yasu

- added a book in the Omake Room that helps explain some mythos that wasn't clear.

- attempted to sprite graphics for Hisame in some cutscenes using a base. More to come...

- fixed up all of the face graphics

- added a bit of developer's foresight in the True End route that some players could abuse in 1.0.

- added some more beta sketches in the Omake Room (drawn by yours truly!)

Progress Report

Finally, some progress

Finally got some progress done on Kamikakushi 2.0. (Thanks to my GF for helping me fight through depression)

So... What did I change?

-Revised dialogue

- Ramped difficulty for the chase scenes/music box puzzle

- temporarily removed the doll puzzle (blame the depression)

- added some flashbacks that further explain Hisame and Shin's backstory

- replaced face graphics and sprites for Ueno and Yamazawa.

- replaced the sprite for short-haired Yasu

- added a book in the Omake Room that helps explain some mythos that wasn't clear.

-attempted to sprite graphics for Hisame in some cutscenes using a base. More to come...

- fixed up all of the face graphics

- added a bit of developer's foresight in the True End route that some players could abuse in 1.0. Not anymore, fishes.

So what's next after Kamikakushi 2.0? Maybe helping my GF with her project? Or maybe I could try working on my other small-scale projects? Who knows.

Progress Report

Face graphics

I've been mentally debating whether or not to change the face graphics for Ueno and Yamazawa to get as close as I can to their sprites for version 2.0.

I have some close-ish one for both boys, but I can't guarantee they're 100% perfect.
