Winter Dream Is Out Now!
After a good while of working on it, and a bit of a break in the middle, I have finally finished this visual novel. The goal was to make something sad like visual novels from Key/Visual Arts. They're known for stuff like Clannad, Little Busters, and Angel Beats. Winter Dream takes inspiration from more than one of their visual novels, some of which already listed. If you're a fan of their stuff, you might like this visual novel. I wish development could have gone a bit faster, but I had some stuff come up in my personal life and got distracted by RPGs. For a good while, a lot of my attention went to them since they take so long to complete.
Anyways, in this visual novel, you'll play as a boy named Caron Duff who moves in with his uncle Daniel during his winter vacation. He meets three interesting girls while he is there. First is Velda Penn who works for Daniel. She has a bad habit of speaking rudely to almost anyone. Next is Gwen Coy who is shy around new people and after getting to know her, Caron learns how playful she can be. Lastly, there's Rose Sherburn who cares more about others than herself. There are multiple endings you can get: good and bad. Each girl has both a romance ending and a friendship ending. Get at least one of those endings on each of their routes and you'll unlock a new route.
When you complete that route, you'll unlock one more. Winter Dream is my attempt at a sad story, which I'll admit, I got a little bit choked up when writing one of the scenes. Hopefully I've succeeded in creating something that will make others feel the same way as they read Caron's story, from the happy times to the sad times. There isn't really much else to say but I hope you'll check it out and hopefully you'll like the story and characters. If you pay extra for it, you'll be able to get the original scripts and a manual.

Progress Report
Winter Dream Progress
In this upcoming visual novel, you'll be following Caron Duff who moves in with his uncle during his winter vacation. It won't all be relaxing though, since his uncle owns a restaurant and will be putting him to work. While he stays with his uncle, Caron meets three interesting girls.
Velda Penn
The first of the girls he'll encounter is Velda since she works at his uncle's restaurant. Unfortunately, she's not the most pleasant person to be around and won't hesitate to say the rudest things to just about anyone. She also functions as Caron's alarm clock.
Gwen Coy
He'll run into Gwen not too much later. She's pretty shy around new people but the more often she sees someone, the more likely it is she'll be comfortable around them as long as they don't upset her. Gwen also has a habit of freaking out easily. She has a playful side too.
Rose Sherburn
The last of the girls is Rose. She's very nice and often putting others before herself. Most of her time is spent taking care of or helping children. She can often be found doing volunteer work and donating things to those less fortunate.
One thing I'd like to point out is that despite it being called "Winter Dream", there isn't going to be a whole lot of snow and that's for two reasons. The first being that I don't have enough backgrounds with snow and the other is because where I live, it's totally up in the air how much snow we'll get when winter hits. Sometimes we'll get a lot and sometimes we get next to nothing.
This visual novel is going to be a bit different from any of the stuff I've worked on previously. In terms of length, I'd say it's definitely longer than School For The Friendless. Unlike School For The Friendless, when you complete the three routes, either with a friendship or romance ending, you'll unlock an all new "true" route. This is because the visual novel is based on stuff from Key/Visual Arts like Kanon, Air, Little Busters, and Summer Pockets. If you've read any of their stuff than you've most likely figured out that this visual novel is one of the saddest I've written. I'll admit, I did get a little choked up when writing some of the final scenes.
As of now, coding is pretty much done and the visual novel is currently in private beta. Like a lot my older visual novels, there will be optional extra content (a manual and the original scripts) which are currently being worked on. One last thing I'd like to confirm, Winter Dream will be the first of my visual novels to have an opening. It's not too professional, partly due to being edited with software I'm not used to making this kind of stuff with, but it should get the job done. Hope you're looking forward to trying it out. If there's anything you'd like to know before it releases, feel free to ask as long as it's not gonna spoil anything!
