Anyway, welcome to my awesome second progress update for FEMUR56! I have been working on the game whenever I can build myself up to doing it, so the development has been a little bit of a slow clawl. However... I have been able to work on my pixel art animation skills in that time and I have been working on some cool shit!

Animations aside, a friend helping with map design and I have been working on the Deep Caves here and there. So far, we have a handful of maps and I designed a few puzzles (with WIP sprites of course).
A few cutscenes have been implemented in the game, but the mass of the work I have done towards the game has been the writing. I am trying to make sure that the story and meaning of this game is as tightly knit and solid as possible before I begin REAL artistic and developmental work towards it. For the time being, however, the story up to the end of the demo is about 99% complete. All I have to do is work towards finishing up the demo so you can get an actual taste! There is so, so much I want to talk about in this game, but I need to hold my tongue and let development take its course. The general gyst of the game goes as such:
The entire game is about being the best possible self you can be, and that you shouldn't let others control who you are. No matter what control or authority someone has, and no matter how pretty they want to word it, the people who try to control you are not good people. This is not to say you can do whatever you want, of course. There will be consequences based off of what you say and do. I don't want "true endings" to be locked behind being nice all the time. In real life, sometimes you act mean or do regretful actions. I want there to be consequences for these actions, but not significant consequences that will gravely affect the story. That being said, currently there are 4 possible endings that are planned based off of which characters you kill, spare, or listen to.
I think that should cover this progress update fairly well! I hope that whoever read this to the end has a fantastic 2024! I hope to see your reaction once the demo releases!!

You are a Disciple from a once sheltered life lived in. The world is broken, and your home further crumbles as time ticks on. With little warning, your entire life is uprooted and you find yourself lost in a world so vast you never knew. All the while, you discover that the strange religion residing in The Nest seems to have a much grander influence than once thought... You find yourself with a sudden sense of Individuality, and this surge of emotion causes you to act in ways you never have before.

PROGRESS UPDATE 001 // THE DEEP CAVERNS
Hello beautiful people! It is me Reety with the first progress update for FEMUR56.
I have been working on the game a lot and have a lot to show for it, but it is not quite ready for a demo yet. As of my last update (which was what was promised in the game on the WIP page) I have added many cool features such as: a finished fully customized shop with dialogue options, the upper part of the caverns fully completed with the deep caverns being in development, customized animations for special events/triggers, a work in progress revamp of the battle/BRAVE ACTS system, revamped graphics and dialogue, and much much more. The writing of the story has come across very well so far, I have a very solid beginning and end which I just need to fill the gaps in between. On top of that, the characters and villains have been great to write about (as well as the parallels they share and show.)

Well on top of that I have some pieces of the OST to show off. Given I have only really shown off one track from the game (that being the trailer) I think it'd be appropriate to show off the first few tracks you'll hear in the overworld and battle when you play the demo! And here they are:
