Blink

Verdict: Not finished cooking--totally raw— I
was reading the description and I was ... expecting a lot more. I doubt that our
developer friend will finish this. Though I'll just give him some feed-back anyways
just so he doesn't make the same mistakes in any other future games.

This game is for you if like ... looking at pretty stuff
This game is not for you if like ... a game, fast pace stuff, action

My Review Policies

.I just review these games for two reasons: (1) to give gamers a good sense of what the game is, and if it is their type of game or not and (2) to help the developers make better games in the future. I've seen a lot of people get a lot of crap in the past for making critical reviews and people accusing others of "being jealous." I really hope that no one does the same to me. Anything I write here is no personal and is not meant to offend others. I am just a hobbyist.
.Criteria I try to be a bit understanding and sympathetic to the developer and understand the limitations of a homebrewing hobbyist (who is more likely a jobless youth) so I am not too picky about having custom content.) Though as a player, I have expectations too. I grade games on a F - A scale.
The stars, in my opinion, are multipled by x2. So
..........
1-2 = F
3 = D
3.5 = C
4 = B
4.5 - 5 = A

CONTEXT
. From what little I know about this game, it was released for Release
Something a long time ago. I guess it was released very prematurely. It claims to be
a visual novel that explores the world. I guess the world is a single room.

GAMEPLAY
. Slow text is slow. Yeah. There is no need at me to
stare at: "WOOD. WOOD. WOOD." For four seconds. I think the fade in
effect should be faster and it should instantaneously disappear when the player
presses space. The game wasn't long, but for the few minutes that it was going
on, the text drove me nuts.

VISUALS
. Visuals were gorgeous. I thought the maps outside were too
dark--but it didn't matter since we didn't have to navigate through them anyways.

SOUND
. There was no sound. At all. I can't really comment on this much.

WRITING
. Let's just say this. I have no idea what was going on because
the writing was so ambiguous. I guess that is the point? I don't know. The game
was too short to tell anyways.

VERDICT
. Uncooked! Raw! Argh! Salmonella! I can't really rate this game
since there is nothing to really rate.

Blink Notes

- Hmm. Using RM2K3 as a visual novel device? Not sure if that is the best choice. We'll see..
- Argh. Intro text need to go faster. I don't need to stare at "How does tomorrow sound?" For five seconds.
- I think it would look more cinematic if the black borders were actually borders. Like, not transparent and on top of the fog.
- Really way too slow. No music, no sound. This needs to be faster to catch a player's interest.
- I really like your spider web effects.
- Um. I think you should relabel this game as "Adventure" rather than "Visual Novel" but it is up to you.
- ARR. TEXT IS TOO SLOW.
- ...
- What? That was it?

Thanks for the review YDS!

I agree entirely with what you're saying - This is extremely raw; just above the bare-bones. I suppose I was just in a rush to get something out there, rather than think twice about playability. I'll take these on-board for next time - I hope it shows in what I've got coming!
I must know the meaning behind WOOD WOOD WOOD
