I'm a fan of Molasses Meow.
Molasses Meow is a very original, witty adventure game about bright colors, about pointless mazes, and about the awesomeness of a cat named Molasses Meow.
Monster Magnet Meow has got nothing to do with bright colors, pointless mazes, and the main character is much less awesome here. This game does no justice to its predecessor, and would actually be much better without any reference to it. It almost looks like a bad fangame. I'm guessing Overkill had a nice puzzle idea, and thought it would be cool making it a sequel to
Molasses Meow. It wasn't cool.
So let's forget about Molasses Meow, and talk about this game.
Like I said,
Monster Magnet Meow is a puzzle game, with a really simple but still clever concept: you have a Magnet capable of either pushing or pulling monsters and keys. Your mission is saving people from yetis. In order to do so, you must first obtain the key (necessary to unlock a certain passage), and then push the yetis to the water, so they'll die.
It's really simple, but works fantastically well.
Graphics in this game are very charming and colorful (unlike the original
Molasses Meow). Sound effects are also nice.
After playing the first two stages, I thought "I'm gonna really love this game", because I'm a huge sucker for puzzles, and this one was starting to look super great and addictive.
That was when the game ended.
This game is sinful.
Sin number 1: Wasting an extremely fun puzzle concept in a 5-minute game.
Sin number 2: Wasting the character Molasses Meow in a game that has nothing to do with Molasses Meowness.
Sin number 3: No music.
Making an (extremely) extended version of this game is the only path to redemption.
