World's Dawn developer let's play

Hey everyone! Wow, it's been a long time O.O

I wanted to drop by because I'm returning to World's Dawn three years after release (!) for a developer let's play. I'll be going through a good chunk of the game with a friend and sharing behind-the-scenes stories, community comments, and laughs aplenty. I thought some fellow RM folks might be interested in how the project came together and why certain decisions were made, that sort of thing.



I've been going through a bit of a rough patch lately, so this cozy, casual series has been a good way to decompress and stay connected with other players and developers. If you think you might enjoy it, there are a few episodes up on YouTube already and more to come very soon! And please do let me know what you think. I've never recorded anything like this before, so feedback is certainly welcome.

Yeah, I've been having trouble with my server the last couple days... It's strange, because it seems to only be blocked for certain people. I know a lot of people have been able to access the site without any problems.

I'm in the process of looking for another place to host my site. Sorry for the inconvenience!

I really like the game so far, but whenever I try and save, it says it cannot find the file and then shuts down the game. Any idea what is going on?

I'm not sure why that's happening but apparently it's happened to at least one other player... Can I ask exactly when you downloaded the file? If it's the latest version of the game I'll have to keep looking for a solution.

I believe I downloaded it Thursday or some time around there. I tried to see what the issue was myself and it seems there is no file for the save data to go? That's all I could think of when I looked through all the files.

Cheshire570, this one doesn't save into the same main folder as the game, it's a choice the developer makes. Have a look at the Diary folder in the main game folder, that's where the saves are kept. Is that empty? They're not called saves, they are called entries.

The main game folder has audio, fonts, and graphics for folders. There is no folder of file called entries in the main folder or in any of the other folders.

then something is wrong, this is what it should look like.



the entries (saves) are in the Diary folder.

Thanks again for helping out! Yes, the folder should look like that screenshot. It sounds like the game didn't extract properly for some reason, even though you tried it multiple times. You should be able to just add empty folders called "Diary" and "Album".

You mean the nominate button on the game page? That's for the Misao's. They're judged once a year. The spotlights are chosen by the admins here, and a development one is great as it gets a lot more traffic to the game page and more people trying the game.
