Making the transition to RMVX

Welcome to those of you who still make RPGs but are still ambivalent or hesitant to move to this fancy "new" RPG Maker from Enterbrain (I think there are, what, like 11 of us left?). Anywho, there's probably dozens of reasons why you should or should not make the move and I won't rehash them here because I haven't organized my thoughts on the matter. The point of all this that I - a long time Rm2k3 holdout (for no particular reason other than I was comfortable with Rm2k3) - am trying it out. Leading by example n' all that.
Let's see where this rabbit hole takes us...
So, I dug through my collection of old game ideas and uncovered an easy-sounding-to-implement-light-hearted-adventure game I tentatively named Quirk!. That was dumb so I rebranded as:
My plan is to focus on using the engine, and not get distracted by epic plot or deep characters - I will crank out something playable. With Facepunchers.
STEP 1 ::..
Opening the engine to a brand new project
First stop: GreatRedSpirit's Starting Out In VX thread
Looks like RMVX ships with a lot of bugs right off the bat! No problem! I'm used to that being a user of RM2k3 (har har!). Except this time I can do something about it. And by "I" I mean "Yanfly" and by "something" I mean "copy his script into my game to fix all the problems I don't really understand".
And then I clicked and copied this: http://rpgmaker.net/users/kentona/locker/yanfly_core_fixes.txt
(oh look who's locker that's in!)
In less than 10 minutes I created my first project and already I copied my first script! And, as everyone knows, more scripts == more better game!
Next up...
Importing title screens.

WAH-CHA! Click it.

Yeah, I putzed around in the map editor beforehand, but that was simply to get some screenshots for this gameprofile so that I could submit it to the site.
Aren't you going to configure that script?
more scripts == more better game!
Really? thats great cus i've tweaked at least half of the core scripts in my first game ^.^/
I would use VX instead of XP if it werent for the horribly square RTP tiles *shudders*
And it's interesting to see VX from the point of view of an rm2k3 user, specially someone with god-like mapping skills like kentona. I'll be watching this blog.....
....always.
There's a few color settings you can change (scroll down past all the comments (in green) until you hit the first bits of actual code). Mostly colors and shit. It isn't half as important as being able to multiply.
Chaos did bring something worth noting up: Remember for other scripts that it'd be a good idea to read the opening comments for instructions on how to use them. Some scripts also have setting that you can change right after the opening comments that you can change.
