GOOD AND BAD NEWS ABOUT THE 'SUNNYDALE'' DEMO

Good news:
- It actually exists
Bad news:
- The file size is ginormous (178MB)
More good news:
- It's unlikely to get any bigger
- Having the VX program/RTP isn't necessary in order to play this
Anyway, everyone kept asking me for a demo so I decided to upload one. I didn't really go out of my way to polish this one. I basically just uploaded the game in its raw, current form.
A large portion of the file size comes from pictures and I spent nearly all day Sunday trying to find programs to compress the data, but none of them made any significant difference. Grim. And to make matters worse, I ran into VX's 128MB cut-off, which I didn't see coming.
Buuuuuuuuuuuut, I found a way to beat the system!
The Animations folder is the largest folder in the game, and isn't compressed with the rest of the game's data. After you extract the files, past the Animations folder that's in the zip folder... over the Animations folder that's in the game's graphics folder.
And then play the game.
The demo also includes:
- An instruction booklet that briefly explains the game's mechanics
- A cast list/information on how to recruit them
- A guide
I look forward to hearing from you! Let me know what sucks so I can make it not-stuck for the full release.
So, until the submission has been approved...

Again, I apologize for the size...

Craze, if your game's data exceeds 128MB, VX won't compress it properly. Sure, it'll say "compression complete!" and make you think you did something right, but whoever downloads your game (or you, for that matter) will have trouble extracting your game's data...because after 128MB, VX pretty much said "fuck it" and stopped compressing, thus leaving out a whole bunch of files including the ones that actually make the game playable.
Personally, I think it's stupid... but there's a way around it. =P

I tried that on my desktop (which didn't have VX) and it wouldn't work. It said it needed the RTP although the RTP was already in the game's folder. *face-palm*
I'm sure there are lots of ways people have dodged that problem. I just did the easiest thing for me. lol

Go to game.ini or whatever it is and change it so that it doesn't want any RTPackages.
For example:
For example:
[Game]
Library=RGSS202E.dll
Scripts=Data\Scripts.rvdata
Title=Visions & Voices
RTP=
...where did the edit button go? Anyway, you can download Visions & Voices to see how to both not include the entire RTP and tell the game to not need it.
*sigh* Now if only I had discovered that last night...
Anyways, thanks a bunch. At least now I know, so I won't run into the same trouble for the full release.

I'm glad! =D
Some people are giving this game some hell because of the whole crossover thing.... but honestly, I can somwhat understand, because I'm sure if I saw a crossover game featuring Ranma 1/2, Dragon Ball Z, Pokemon and Naturo characters, my initial thought would be: O.o ??!!
I look forward to reading more of your comments.
