Progress Report for Chapter 1 Demo

My current plan is to release a demo of the game which is complete up to the end of Chapter 1.

The event structure is more or less complete. All I need to do is finish scripting the events. The mapping still feels a little off, though. I have a rough idea of what I want for a Title screen. I even have a very rough approximation of what I imagined done with MS Paint. I'm not totally comfortable using the title screen I made, but I guess it's better than using the default one. But only marginally.

I'm okay with the current music set-up, but I've seen way too many people say that using music from VGmusic.com (or borrowing from commercially-made games in general) is "bad". Depending on what I hear in response to this blog, I may keep what I have, or go 2K, XP, or VX RTP.

Uploaded the first demo a few moments ago. So unless something odd is going on, it should be available momentarily for you to poke fun at. Hey, as long as it's constructive criticism, I'm totally cool with it.

The title screen I mentioned in my initial post is in the "Graphics/Pictures" directory, as I'm still not sure I actually want to use it for a title screen. If nothing else, I guess it could be considered concept art.

Updated the screen shots thanks to the wonderful pointers given to me by Little Wing Guy and Mary4D. Mary 4D's suggestion looks much more epic than what I have (I really like that text box!), but I like what I came up with.

I've also updated the download to reflect the graphical overhaul of the school, but I'm not quite sure about the dungeon mapping I have at the moment.

Fortunately, I'm still hammering out what, exactly, I want to happen in Chapter 2, so if there's any other suggestions or comments, I'd like to see them!

After performing a play-through of the Chapter 1 demo, and fixing a few bugs/flaws I saw along the way, I've uploaded a new download for the Chapter 1 demo. With any luck, this is the last time I have to update this demo.

I don't think the Chapter 1 demo serves much purpose anymore. I'll be removing it in three days.
