Final Demo -- v0.03

Hey... Would you like a final demo, guys? I was thinking on focusing more and just wait until the game is close to completion instead of worrying about any more demos, but since I got a few questions about when a new demo would be out, I figured I'd ask. Playing time at this point is about one and a half hours, give or take.
It would be the final demo before the "release candidate" download is posted. :)
The demo would include the blacksmithing system, one more town, one more sidequest and one "hidden" character in the early stages of the game.
Also, slightly tweaked dialogue and slightly more complete plot details.
It will continue the story a bit more, but the full game is nowhere near completion yet (about half overall).
So... what do you think? Would you rather keep playing demos or do you prefer to just play the complete deal?
Let me know your thoughts.

Considering I didn't get a chance to play the other demo(s), I would most certainly like a version 0.03 demo. Especially, if it contains about half of the game. That would be a good share of spoilers and it really depends if you're willing to spoil your story in a demo. Most demos are only released to tease the consumer or player into buying or downloading the official release.
In this case, if the player finds out they don't like the game's plot, then it's pretty safe to say they wont be playing the official release or play long enough to provide helpful feedback.

Well, Skylark, you raise a valid point indeed. I was indeed thinking along those lines, hence some of my reservations, but some people inquired about another demo.
Besides that, there are no new spoilers in this version that weren't already present in v0.02 (way to undermine my own plot, huh? haha... but, let's just say that the spoilers are at the end), but I will hear other people and ponder on this.
After all, that's what these blogs are for, right? To communicate with people that -might- be interested in our projects.

Hmmm, tough decision :) I have to agree with skylark and say it is valid for those who haven't seen a demo already. However, for those of us who have it is going to get quite repetitive and a bit boring to have constant demos. Then when the final game comes out, none of us will want to play it because we'll have seen the beginning SO many times.
That's just my thinking :) Personally, I put up a finished BETA version and then a real version, but in this case you may want to think about leaving the demos up on the site so more people can view it. Think of it more as a preview than the whole game step-by-step

Hmm.. I think I might have figured out what I want to do...
Let's give it a couple more days to ponder on.
In the meantime, take a look at the new "Secondary Skills" page for a sneak-peek of the Blacksmithing Skill.
Also the Character Page has been update with some skill descriptions for Noish.

Well I have been kinda busy with life (college and other thingies) these days!
Ok! I want to tell you that I have decided (after reading your comments and talking to Carvonica) to release not a NEW NEW demo, but a RE-RELEASE of the former demo, but with some new features (namely blacksmithing and some skill changes/rebalances, and also slightly revised and polished dialogue and plot holes.) and bug fixes to most (if not all) of the bugs you guys found in v0.02.
This demo will stay up during the whole time it takes for Legacy to be finished.
This way those that haven't had to oportunity to play demo v0.02 can play v0.03 if they like.
Those that have already played v0.02... well, as Everguard put it, I wouldn't want you to get bored,
and since there's no new story content in the upcoming v0.03, you should only play it if you REALLY want.
I think v0.03 can probaly be uploaded by mid-november.(I hope at least).
So... We'll stay in touch! Good luck with game-making and playing! :)

You are going to release another demo? Two things: how much new content will be in version 03 and how far is the game from completed? If I were you, I would keep these two things in mind before releasing another version. I stated the reason for this in my previous comment on this blog. I would like to play a version instead of waiting, but not if it spoils half the plot.

skylark, there is -NO- new content (of course, I have completed new content, but it wont be in this demo... this ends at the same point v0.02 did).
There are some new features, like blacksmithing and lore books scattered around. Some new skills and one little "secret/cameo" character.
This is more to leave up until the game is finished, and make sure I fixed all the bugs people found.
I took that into consideration, as you and everguard kindly noted in the first posts.
EDIT: I'm about 60-65% complete with the game, so.. Legacy won't be completed in 2010, it seems...
I'll be posting the release date when I decide on it, though.
In this case, why did you not leave version 02 up and leave it at that? I'm not questioning your reasons, I am sure they are fair to you but if there it is not new content and only a feature or two new, it seems that this time should be spent to further the goal to accomplishing a full release.

well this was going to be done anyway, and it's already completed :)
I'll go right back to continuing the game after this, no more tweaking with the early parts, hopefully
EDIT: What I mean is, I'm already working on the post-demo parts, towards the full release :)
Several areas that are not playable in the demo have been completed and the story is 99% set at this point.
I've just hit a batch of college exams, so in a few week progress will be slowed down significantly, so I wanted to get this final sneak peek out, before college consumed me.
