I probably should stop thinking far beyond my capability...

I'm thinking far too big for this project. For some reason I keep thinking I should make this 40-hour epic masterpiece, but I find two problems with this.
1. Holy cow, that's way too long!!!
2. Why on earth would I try to make a 40-hour epic with a game designer that seems best fitted for smaller-ish projects...not that a long game isn't possible with it.

I mean, really. I should save the long stuff for when/if I become the CEO of my own company. Right now, I'm just learning the basics. I don't want to cancel this project because I became too overwhelmed. That seems to be a big case here for other developers. Ah well, that'll most likely never happen.

I know what you mean, sometimes I get ahead of myself to, I want everything to be perfect but I am just starting out. Then again perfectionism isn't something I would call a bad thing.

The exact same thing happens to me sometimes with my game...
I believe the important thing is not getting discorauged. Perhaps If you really like an idea but find it too big for you right now, you could save it for a later sequel or different game.

Keep it up! Good Luck
What they say is true, but I'd like to point out two things
1: 40 hours isn't too long in some cases. For some, games it's just right!

2 RMXP is just as good for long projects as it is small! :)
Still, I don't think I should make a lengthy game as my first endeavor. Maybe my third or fourth, but not my first.
Yeah, I agree completely. It's better to work your way up to a longer/epic game, it's better to just become accustomed to the program the first few times. Who knows, maybe you'll ve ready for a leangthy game for the sequel to this one (if you make one). That is sort of what I'm doing ( in a twisted sense) :) Good luck though, and you'll make the best decision, don't worry.
