Balance isn't as hard as mapmaking.

Balancing enemies and the party is a tricky thing to do. It's easy enough to make the party too powerful and plow through everything they come across, or make the enemy way too cheap, killing your party in one blow at full health at level 99. But it is nowhere near as tricky as mapmaking.
But I digress. The main point of this blog was to simply mention my feelings of balance, and the fact that I made the first enemies of the game actually pose a threat if you aren't careful. They aren't game breakingly awful, but they are significantly more challenging.

Very good, much improved (i think)
If you have further trouble, this formula seems to help me.
1 monster- 2-3 turns to kill (on level)
2 of the same monster 4-5 turns (on lv)
etc...
(Change this formula to fit higher level monsters example: at level 70 the battles will be longer then level 1, but around the same ratio)
It's helpful in deciding how long the battle should take, if the battle is WAY too long then the monster is too hard. If it's too short, then the players are too strong.
Hmm, should increase the fire resistance of the Dagger, then.
Now they're too hard. Facing three Daggers without being able to one-shot them is far too difficult with only Diana.
