Not really, it's easy to see what's real and what's not. The background is zoomed out anyway.
I'd still just lower the saturation of that background to make it a little more clear what's in the foreground and what isn't.

Just played this level, and I was right you can easily tell what's going on..the only problem is that its all flashing, it literally made my eyes water.
