Here is a bit of information about the game world and some definitions for common terms.
The World
The game takes place in the world of Arell, on the continent of Terrosia. For thousands of years, Terrosia has been surrounded in a magical mist that prevents entrance or exit. Those who try to sail out into the mists inevitably find themselves back where they came from. Terrosia is primarily inhabited by humans, but dwarves and goblins are a common sight as well, particularly in the vast mountain ranges.
The Syl
An ancient, highly advanced but long extinct race that fled to Terrosia from across the ocean in the forgotten past. What they fled from and why they chose to trap Terrosia in mist is unknown. Before suddenly and unexpectedly dying out, the Syl passed on the secrets of Magic to the human race. Ruins of Syl civilization are scattered across Terrosia, many of which are protected by powerful magical wards, and some of which even the Tower have so far been unable to break.
The White Tower
An organization of Mages that acts as the government of Terrosia. Named after the ancient Syl tower in which they are headquartered, the Tower maintains order and trains new Mages in their arts. They are dedicated to uncovering the mysteries left behind by the Syl in the hopes of one day learning the secrets of the Mist Towers and venturing into the outside world. The White Tower is led by the Council of Three, an elected trio of powerful Archmages.
