Still charging.... Squashing bugs and making it easier to test.
I've programmed 3+ more hours into DungeonQuest. Unfortunately, most of that was squashing bugs with the character select scripts. My first real script that I made from scratch. Everything else was made by someone else... and they have their bugs, I'm just not smart enough to debug them.
It should be easier for me to test the game now, because I've added a command that removes the battles in the game. So what would have taken me an hour is now ten minutes.
3 more pages out of 30+ have been put into the game. I'm also thinking that simple Morrowind style quests might be best for the next game instead of having an actual story. There are movements and things that consume time and need testing.
Now I'm at the bridge (quite literally) between the first quest and second. Good enough of a benchmark to stop. Realistically if it takes 1 page per hour, I still have another 30+ hours before I'm done adding the script into the game. At this rate the minimum time the game would be done is 10 days.
I'm also adding quest status sensitive dialog. Like the townspeople react to where you are currently on your quest.

Charging uphill to add the script to the game
I spent 3+ hours adding the game script from Word into the game. Thanks to the intense music of Five Finger Death Punch. I think that I can do the daunting task of adding 30+ pages of script into the game. Not just that, but the movement of characters.
After the 3+ hours. 4 pages have been put into the game. Not much, but I've added other things with the class selection scripts. Hopefully the next round will go quicker.
In the game you can select your characters, and I made it so your character has a full screen image that shows up when they speak for the character you've chosen. It's really not so hard as it is not fun. There is a ton of other fun things that I could be doing, but I need to push out this game after spending 1,000 hours on something that wasn't meant to be a game.

Beta Tweaking
There are a few betas floating around now. I've been playing the game from the start again... probably for the 8th time. This time I picked probably the worst party to make me hate the game, but also to tweak the enemies.
Because I picked a party without really any magic users... I've found it painful to play the third dungeon where you need to use magic. Luckily there are scrolls... but the scrolls are very weak since they're based on the spirit of the user. So I increased the base damage.
I've thrown in some new items and equipment to make the game more fun and to make it seem like less of a slog. Waterballoons, grenades, taproots to make things, first aide kits, vaccumes, magic turbans to grant your wishes. Some of the more useless characters now have better uses with the new equipments.
I'm about 4 hours into the game... a task that with a better party would probably only be 2 hours or 90 minutes.
I've also been killing bugs. Some of which center around when you die there are problems, because DungeonQuest has a DragonQuest death where you respawn at the local church with half your gold.
The enemies are heavily tweaked to make things less of an up a cliff challenge. New spells and remedies have been added for burns, numb, suffocation, burrials, drowning, shocked and so on. Other characters can now "rescue" them.
I've been adding descriptions to items, weapons and armors. That's always been a flaw of mine. No descriptions.
The mysterious "south cave staircase" bug that has plagued beta testers for months has been fixed. The mysterious error would make ANY left, brown walkdown staircase in the "south cave" from being walked down. Yet right facing down staircases work, left facing grey down staircases work. The same tile copied and pasted to a different map works. So how did I solve the strange error? I didn't I just added a "through" tick to it.
There's no better way to play the game than the suckiest way possible.

I pushed further today into the tedious stuff of the last dungeon and town. The weapons, skill, equipment, enemies, enemy placement and shops. Thus raising the grand total of everything and pushing the game forward a bit. Now I'm 90% done with the second to last dungeon and 60% done on the final dungeon.
Frills like skill descriptions, 8 new status ailments and new spells were added as well. Hopefully this makes the game more enjoyable.
I intend to just finish the game instead of pollishing one area with play testing before moving on to the next. Maybe that method will fail, but I think that might keep me motivated enough to finish instead of wasting hours play testing while making the game.
Then when I am done with it, I will add all of the main quest dialog from the document, play test it and then give it to the testers. I have a big long 10 chapter thing written for this game, but seeing as how it took me months just to roll out the first chapter, I think that I'll leave it as complete with just the one chapter that might take 8 - 20 hours to complete.

The 2 hour dungeon near complete
Well for people that like never ending dungeons, I made one. This dungeon turned out twice as long as I thought it would be. I could probably shave it down to 90 minutes. Anyway, there are 7 levels / areas to it, with one of the areas being a mine cart puzzle hub to provide a break in the action.
In playing through this dungeon, I added more skills, items, weapons and equipment that add to the diversity of the game. It got to a point where my pilgrim really had nothing to do in most battles, so I made more things for him to do.
There are around 25 enemy types and they're balanced now. Originally they were pretty damn uber before. The only thing left is to add all the loot and then I'll be on to the final town and dungeon. :-)

Status Updates
Its been maybe 3 months since I've updated anyone on the project. The past few weeks I've had a few hours to update the game and keep it going. I'm getting closer to releasing it again.
The last two battle areas need to get finished up and fleshed out. Then I need to add all of the dialog which is already written. 30+ pages of story and whatever else is written for the NPC townies.
Anyway, I spent my time yesterday shrinking a minecart puzzle because its noticably slow. The map is 70 x 70 or something. It was 100 x 100 at some point. It still moves slow, just not as slow as it once did.
I also made random makeable things like wine, shell armor, bearskin rug and so on. I made the first sub-boss in the 2nd final cave, which is where I got stuck 3 months ago. Its a tortusnake that like FF6, it uses a shell skill and becomes undamageable and reflects spells. The tortusnake still has a snake tail to attack until the snake tail gets killed. I'm also perfecting the enemies. When you start with fresh enemies in an area with fresh weapons, a developer needs to pollish everything. Otherwise things could become a slog.
This cave I'm currently on is pretty giant as I've probably mentioned before. 7 floors with some diversity to gameplay. Tricks, traps, puzzles, minecarts, a getaway and so on. Its so giant there's a settlement halfway into it. The settlement probably doesn't look the best considering its an ice cave and there really isn't ice furnature.
And I have the final area mapped out and I've ran through, but I still need to add tricks, traps, monsters, puzzles and so on. I also used non RTP graphics and posted a map of 1B - 3B.
Hopefully someone will enjoy this news.

Enhancements
A week later after my last blog, the manuscript has been approved and enjoyed by the readers. Some things have been enhanced. I will soon put the manuscript into the game and make videos to get people excited.
As for the game itself, it is pushing further and I'm still working in the 5th "dungeon," which is probably the biggest I've ever made. The dungeon is done and playable, now I just need to add enemies and finds to it and the town in front of it.
Sometime next week I will expand the 6th town in the game and work on the 6th and final dungeon before releasing the game... again.
A lot of bugs from the initial versions of the game have been squashed.
Instead of making my own battlers, I've gotten the OK from someone to use 250 of his. I've reworked my enemies to match up with the new battlers.
I've also implamented new tiles as well as made 2K3 style tiles where different maps will have different tilesets. However, you might not see the effect until 4+ hours into the game. I guess it is a reward for anyone willing to play that far. It offers some fresh scenery to keep things interesting.

34 Pages of Dialog for Chapter 1
In my attempt to make DungeonQuest a lot better, I made a solid storyline. Sure it was shaky at first, but with some feedback, I was able to take ideas and hammer out something a lot better. Then over the past 2 or 3 weeks I've been writing dialog for the game. Dialog that won't choke a horse. It's short, sweet & everyone gets a turn. Even the boss characters have some interesting lines.
Even though you still pick your party of 4, the party gets switched around twice in this first chapter. The party you pick has a purpose, backstories and personalities. It helps give the story life and gets rich with ups and downs.
I've decided to expand the game past what I wanted it to be. So now my original game is only a chapter 1. By the end of the first chapter, the party is left totally different than when it started. Like a story arc. Now I just need to get more feedback on it, put it in the game and make 2 more "dungeons" before I repost the game.
There are also several new systems that I'll be blogging about soon along with videos.

More Vehicles than boats, ships & airships
The game already has easy to use Return Scrolls to send you back to any town you've been in. It also has green exit crystals so you can use them for a quick exit. Those are far more efficient than they are fun. So now I made fun ways to travel.
More boats
I spent some time today making systems for more boats and more vehicles. More canoes so you can earn more than one when you set sail for different kingdoms. I also fixed some RPG VX music bugs involving the vehicles and going to different screens.
The Horse
Like the Chokabo, when you rent or find a horse, you can quickly gallop without enemies attacking you. Once you dismount from the horse, you lose it.
Snowcraft and Sandcraft
The snowcraft goes across frozen tundra, but not through the woods. The Sandcraft goes glides over sand. When a horse would die in the heat or the cold, these two vehicles offer some beautiful alternatives.
Minecart Puzzles
There are also a few mine cart puzzles where you use switches to make the cart go on different tracks. You zoom along at high speeds and ram through enemies. Its very fun. :-)
Airship Drops
You don't get an airship right off the bat, but there are drop ships that will pilot you to remote locations to drop you off for side jobs. Dump you in a jungle to kill something. Drop you in a desert to find an artifact then return to the drop point to collect you when you're done and whisk you away again.

The short story for the first quest
I need a better story for the first quest obviously. How does everyone like this one. Its better that I know now if it sucks than later. Story isn't my strong point, nor is dialog, but I do understand that to hook the player so they care to see an end to the story.
The short story is:
You are a woman (Ashley) back from school to save a friend that grew up with you (who is a princess) from an evil snake woman that kidnapped the princess when she failed to kill the king. The snake woman now holds the princess and waits for the king to come himself. The king has sent many men who haven't returned. Ashley wants to save her and didn't come all the way for nothing. The king reluctantly caves in and aggrees to put you into the party. His majesty has a plan to make sure Ashley stays safe and doesn't go.
However, after some training, Ashley goes off and creates her own party to save her friend Sylvia from Lamia. Ashley and her new party defeat. After a brief reunion with Sylvia, Lamia crashes the party and the party is victorious.
The twist:
Lamia transfered her her essence with Sylvias. So the Sylvia you saved is really Lamia in disguise. Lamia wants the king dead for vengeance on her mother. Since he never came to her, she's going to him and the party is bringing her. This will not be uncovered until later. As the princess, she can rule a kingdom with her father dead.
I've got dialog all set. Hopefully its not too long 6 pages for 1 quest.
The script:
PART 1-A
* dark screen *
ASHLEY:
My name is Ashley, but my dad always called me...
* enter name > default = Ashley *
ASHLEY:
I was abandon in a basket when I was just a week old.
ASHLEY:
The man that found and raised me was an honored knight of Cliffhaven.
ASHLEY:
He was also a good friend to King Christopher, and that’s who I’ve come to see today.
*screen brightens*
*Ashley is talking to a guard*
GUARD:
Yeah? King’s on the throne. Go see him.
* start the game with control of your character*
*talk to the king*
PART 1-B
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My dear Ashley! Look at you! It’s been years since I’ve seen you!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
How were your studies in Calanbruna?
ASHLEY:
They were good your majesty. I felt lucky to be there.
ASHLEY:
Thanks for the extra study money. I needed it for those books.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Are you staying for a visit? I will see to it that you have some quarters upstairs.
No your majesty, I’m here because of your gorgon problem.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
You’ve heard? There is little that can be done I’m afraid.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Lamia is out for vengeance against me.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
She came here a week ago to murder me in my sleep.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
When I ran to safety, she ended up taking my daughter and slithering off into the night.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My guards were powerless to stop her and were turned against one another by her magic.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I fear that the men I’ve sent to rescue my daughter have fallen prey to the same magic.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I’m just going to have to give myself up to Lamia so she will spare my daughter.
PART 1-C
SIR ELLINGTON:
No your majesty!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Ah Sir Ellington, you remember Sir Chimmil’s daughter Ashley.
SIR ELLINGTON:
Indeed.
SIR ELLINGTON:
Your majesty, I cannot let you give your life to Lamia. I will assemble a party of men.
SIR ELLINGTON:
We will make one last attempt to save Princess Sylvia.
PART 1-D
ASHLEY:
I’ll stop her, your majesty.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
What? You? You’re untrained, unskilled and well…
ASHLEY:
A girl?
ASHLEY:
Yes, which makes me immune to Lamia’s magical charm.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I owe it to your father to forbid you to go! Throw her in the dungeon until this is over!
ASHLEY:
And I owe it to Sylvia to save her. We grew up together here in this castle.
ASHLEY:
You said you would sacrifice yourself? I would do the same your majesty.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Hmmm…
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Then you can join the rescue party with Sir Ellington…
KING CHRISTOPHER:
In the morning.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I’m sure Sir Ellington will see to it that you get some training with a blade before you set out.
SIR ELLINGTON:
Yes Sire.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
But there’s one more thing my dear.
ASHLEY:
Yes your majesty?
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Here, 400 pieces of gold for your gesture. Thank you for coming.
ASHLEY:
To save a friend your majesty… to save a friend.
*Ashley walks off*
PART 1-E
SIR ELLINGTON:
There’s still time to throw her in the dungeon Sire.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
That’s no place for a lady.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Go and teach her some basic swordsmanship.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Then tonight, I will send a mage to cast a deep sleep spell to make sure oversleeps your departure.
PART 2-A
* Learn battle with Sir Ellington *
* Sparing you all dialog of that *
SIR ELLINGTON:
We set out tomorrow morning.
ASHLEY:
(Not if I save her and get back before then)
ASHLEY:
(But I can’t do it alone… I will need to assemble a party.)
* assemble party *
* find and speak to princess sylvia *
PART 3-A
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Who’s there?
ASHLEY:
Its me! Sylvia? Is that you?
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Well who else would it be?
ASHLEY:
Sorry, there’s a lot of stuff going on.
ASHLEY:
Four years ago when I left, I never thought I’d end up meeting you in a frozen cave.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Is my father coming?
\n:
Why would he be?
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
I managed to get away from Lamia. Get me out of here please!
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
She’s trapped back there between the rocks! Kill her please!
\n:
Anything, little darlin’.
* fight lamia *
PART 3-B
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Oh it’s good to see you! All of you!
\n:
Hey there darlin’. I’m big \n.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Hello there uh big \n.
\n:
I’m the one that put together this party to come save you.
ASHLEY:
Ummm...
\n:
Well no. It was Miss. Ashley that banded us together.
These are my associates \n and \n.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Yes, of course warmest greetings to you all.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
I will see to it that my father rewards you four.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Now please let’s go. Take me to him! Does anyone have a return scroll?
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Otherwise we’ll need to get to that exit crystal over there.
* lamia magically transferred her essence into Sylvia long before you arrived *
* the men sent to save her, died before ever reaching her *
* return to the castle *
* get intercepted by the queen *
PART 4-A
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Sylvia? I’ve been worried sick!
QUEEN KRYSTA:
I’m so glad you’re home! Did she hurt you?
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Do you know that your father was contemplating sacrificing himself for you?
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Then I’d lose you both! Do you know what that would do to me?
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Cliffhaven would be left without a royal family...
QUEEN KRYSTA:
*hug*
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Welcome home.
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Look at you Sylvia! You’re so dirty! Let’s get you upstairs immediately for a bath!
QUEEN KRYSTA:
I may need to call the mages to just insta-clean you.
PART 4-B
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Well. Well. Well...
SIR ELLINGTON:
Sir Chimmil’s daughter.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Went off by herself to rescue her friend.
SIR ELLINGTON:
That’s quite noble of her Sire.
ASHLEY:
Thank you Sir Ellington.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
It looks like she and her party did your job for you.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Do you suppose that I should award her your pay Sir Ellington?
SIR ELLINGTON:
If it pleases you, Sire.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Hmmm... Nay. That is not great enough to celebrate your heroism!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
What I will do...
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Is have a bridge built in your honor!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
On the each side will be depicted an epic battle carved in stone...
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Between your party and Lamia.
\n:
Really? That’s it?
SIR ELLINGTON:
You would scoff at the king’s generosity?
\n:
Calm down... No Sir.
ASHLEY:
Perhaps \n cannot understand the long term benefits of immortality in stone form.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Think of it... The fame of everyone recognizes your chiseled mug.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
You will be rewarded in ways you can’t imagine.
SIR ELLINGTON:
It’s more than just petty gold that you waste for fifteen minutes of fun in a harem.
ASHLEY:
You have King Christopher’s gratitude my friend. That’s worth a lot more.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I will have my mages get started immediately on it!
PART 4-C
ASHLEY:
If I may be so bold to ask. Why did Lamia want revenge on you your majesty?
KING CHRISTOPHER:
It seems like a lifetime ago, but when I was a young prince…
KING CHRISTOPHER:
We received word that a gorgon was kidnapping young women from a village.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My father was prepared to dispatch his bravest men to slay her.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
But I was a brash prince, eager to impress my father.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
The night before the men were sent out, I gathered a party and we set off to destroy the gorgon.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
We did just that, but I was the only one left standing.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My comrades were left dead around me.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
In anguish, I smashed all of her eggs, so no gorgon would ever be a problem in Cliffhaven again.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Apparently, I had missed an egg.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
It looks like you followed in my footsteps my dear.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Not much longer after defeating the gorgon, my father passed away and gave me Cliffhaven.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Perhaps I should clutch this scepter a little tighter.

*screen brightens*
*Ashley is talking to a guard*
GUARD:
Yeah? King’s on the throne. Go see him.
* start the game with control of your character*
*talk to the king*
PART 1-B
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My dear Ashley! Look at you! It’s been years since I’ve seen you!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
How were your studies in Calanbruna?
ASHLEY:
They were good your majesty. I felt lucky to be there.
ASHLEY:
Thanks for the extra study money. I needed it for those books.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Are you staying for a visit? I will see to it that you have some quarters upstairs.
No your majesty, I’m here because of your gorgon problem.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
You’ve heard? There is little that can be done I’m afraid.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Lamia is out for vengeance against me.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
She came here a week ago to murder me in my sleep.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
When I ran to safety, she ended up taking my daughter and slithering off into the night.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My guards were powerless to stop her and were turned against one another by her magic.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I fear that the men I’ve sent to rescue my daughter have fallen prey to the same magic.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I’m just going to have to give myself up to Lamia so she will spare my daughter.
PART 1-C
SIR ELLINGTON:
No your majesty!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Ah Sir Ellington, you remember Sir Chimmil’s daughter Ashley.
SIR ELLINGTON:
Indeed.
SIR ELLINGTON:
Your majesty, I cannot let you give your life to Lamia. I will assemble a party of men.
SIR ELLINGTON:
We will make one last attempt to save Princess Sylvia.
PART 1-D
ASHLEY:
I’ll stop her, your majesty.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
What? You? You’re untrained, unskilled and well…
ASHLEY:
A girl?
ASHLEY:
Yes, which makes me immune to Lamia’s magical charm.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I owe it to your father to forbid you to go! Throw her in the dungeon until this is over!
ASHLEY:
And I owe it to Sylvia to save her. We grew up together here in this castle.
ASHLEY:
You said you would sacrifice yourself? I would do the same your majesty.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Hmmm…
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Then you can join the rescue party with Sir Ellington…
KING CHRISTOPHER:
In the morning.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I’m sure Sir Ellington will see to it that you get some training with a blade before you set out.
SIR ELLINGTON:
Yes Sire.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
But there’s one more thing my dear.
ASHLEY:
Yes your majesty?
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Here, 400 pieces of gold for your gesture. Thank you for coming.
ASHLEY:
To save a friend your majesty… to save a friend.
*Ashley walks off*
PART 1-E
SIR ELLINGTON:
There’s still time to throw her in the dungeon Sire.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
That’s no place for a lady.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Go and teach her some basic swordsmanship.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Then tonight, I will send a mage to cast a deep sleep spell to make sure oversleeps your departure.
PART 2-A
* Learn battle with Sir Ellington *
* Sparing you all dialog of that *
SIR ELLINGTON:
We set out tomorrow morning.
ASHLEY:
(Not if I save her and get back before then)
ASHLEY:
(But I can’t do it alone… I will need to assemble a party.)
* assemble party *
* find and speak to princess sylvia *
PART 3-A
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Who’s there?
ASHLEY:
Its me! Sylvia? Is that you?
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Well who else would it be?
ASHLEY:
Sorry, there’s a lot of stuff going on.
ASHLEY:
Four years ago when I left, I never thought I’d end up meeting you in a frozen cave.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Is my father coming?
\n:
Why would he be?
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
I managed to get away from Lamia. Get me out of here please!
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
She’s trapped back there between the rocks! Kill her please!
\n:
Anything, little darlin’.
* fight lamia *
PART 3-B
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Oh it’s good to see you! All of you!
\n:
Hey there darlin’. I’m big \n.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Hello there uh big \n.
\n:
I’m the one that put together this party to come save you.
ASHLEY:
Ummm...
\n:
Well no. It was Miss. Ashley that banded us together.
These are my associates \n and \n.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Yes, of course warmest greetings to you all.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
I will see to it that my father rewards you four.
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Now please let’s go. Take me to him! Does anyone have a return scroll?
PRINCESS SYLVIA:
Otherwise we’ll need to get to that exit crystal over there.
* lamia magically transferred her essence into Sylvia long before you arrived *
* the men sent to save her, died before ever reaching her *
* return to the castle *
* get intercepted by the queen *
PART 4-A
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Sylvia? I’ve been worried sick!
QUEEN KRYSTA:
I’m so glad you’re home! Did she hurt you?
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Do you know that your father was contemplating sacrificing himself for you?
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Then I’d lose you both! Do you know what that would do to me?
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Cliffhaven would be left without a royal family...
QUEEN KRYSTA:
*hug*
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Welcome home.
QUEEN KRYSTA:
Look at you Sylvia! You’re so dirty! Let’s get you upstairs immediately for a bath!
QUEEN KRYSTA:
I may need to call the mages to just insta-clean you.
PART 4-B
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Well. Well. Well...
SIR ELLINGTON:
Sir Chimmil’s daughter.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Went off by herself to rescue her friend.
SIR ELLINGTON:
That’s quite noble of her Sire.
ASHLEY:
Thank you Sir Ellington.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
It looks like she and her party did your job for you.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Do you suppose that I should award her your pay Sir Ellington?
SIR ELLINGTON:
If it pleases you, Sire.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Hmmm... Nay. That is not great enough to celebrate your heroism!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
What I will do...
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Is have a bridge built in your honor!
KING CHRISTOPHER:
On the each side will be depicted an epic battle carved in stone...
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Between your party and Lamia.
\n:
Really? That’s it?
SIR ELLINGTON:
You would scoff at the king’s generosity?
\n:
Calm down... No Sir.
ASHLEY:
Perhaps \n cannot understand the long term benefits of immortality in stone form.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Think of it... The fame of everyone recognizes your chiseled mug.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
You will be rewarded in ways you can’t imagine.
SIR ELLINGTON:
It’s more than just petty gold that you waste for fifteen minutes of fun in a harem.
ASHLEY:
You have King Christopher’s gratitude my friend. That’s worth a lot more.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
I will have my mages get started immediately on it!
PART 4-C
ASHLEY:
If I may be so bold to ask. Why did Lamia want revenge on you your majesty?
KING CHRISTOPHER:
It seems like a lifetime ago, but when I was a young prince…
KING CHRISTOPHER:
We received word that a gorgon was kidnapping young women from a village.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My father was prepared to dispatch his bravest men to slay her.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
But I was a brash prince, eager to impress my father.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
The night before the men were sent out, I gathered a party and we set off to destroy the gorgon.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
We did just that, but I was the only one left standing.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
My comrades were left dead around me.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
In anguish, I smashed all of her eggs, so no gorgon would ever be a problem in Cliffhaven again.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Apparently, I had missed an egg.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
It looks like you followed in my footsteps my dear.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Not much longer after defeating the gorgon, my father passed away and gave me Cliffhaven.
KING CHRISTOPHER:
Perhaps I should clutch this scepter a little tighter.
