Your mission: escape the Edifice without dying.
Sounds simple enough - but you have limited Energy, no healing abilities, and an entire gauntlet of enemies waiting to slaughter you. Have fun!

Edifice is a hybrid jRPG/roguelike with a lot of characters and not a lot of healing. That 2,500 HP on each of your sixteen party members? Make it last.

Bosses are no longer about creaming them, then resting up at town and buying new supplies. Dungeons are no longer about wiping out monsters with UltraFlareGiga and popping an Ether. No, you must strategize to form the best party for an area, then take down enemies as efficiently as possible. Protection is as important as a solid offense if you hope to survive.

The good news:
-Customize dungeon runs to fit your preferred difficulty
-Sixteen playable characters you can equip and upgrade as you please
-Keep making runs to start getting better loot
-Fend off powerful and giant bosses, each with some sort of nasty trick up their sleeve for you to thwart

Are you ready to face the Edifice?

Edifice Players: I Need Your Thoughts

To put you in the mood:

Two questions.

1) If I started a Tumblr blog for the more menial Edifice updates, would anybody be interested? I guess it'd be silly running my RGSS3 Wordpress, personal Tumblr, game dev Tumblr, and this game profile, but I feel like posting frivolous updates on the profile and WP wouldn't be worthwhile.

2) What did you love, like, dislike and hate about the released version of Edifice? Edifice's Ace remake is a very different, but still similar, game, and is also a very serious project in terms of "I am going to make a release a polished, quality indie game." So, I need your thoughts, as harsh as possible. There were lots of good and bad things in Edifice, and I need your help sorting them out.

Just finished the first floor. Maybe it's because I suck at the game, but I thought that the first floor's boss took quite a while to take down. I think the only complaint that I have is that there are sometimes rounds where half my party has to guard due to being on cooldown, which is kind of annoying.

I did have to find a middle ground between too many skills thrown at you at once and not enough for the cooldowns - you'll be able to buy new skills very, very soon however. Also, items! They're beautiful, and waiting for you! They want some loving. Alsoalso, shift key. Quick-guard! Sweet.

Which boss was your first? The game is entirely randomized.

I don't remember its name, but it had two partners, which were differently-colored flames. I recall the boss itself being weak to fire and resistant to ice. There was something called Til Death Do Us Part or something.

That's Celebrina. Yeah, she's tough your first time - I suggest taking out at least one of the flames very quickly, so she takes more damage. Also, her flames don't have the same ailment resistance she does, so lay ailments on them!

EDIT: Also, bosses are rarely completely immune to ailments - even stuff like Petrify can get through! Use them to take a breather, or to, you know, shut down a boss's most annoying skills.
I am actually taking a small break from Eddy Fist as I've been playing it for hours and hours straight for the last three days. /smug
Did anyone else get an error when extracting this game? (CRC failed in blahblahblah\Darkness1.png. File is broken.)

EDIT:
I played a bit, fought 2 randomish battles, one giant snowzo, and then Czarina.

I got an error just as I was about to select my first attack:

i like the part where you actually finish and release games bro
That one Dragon in the Volcano is a pain in the ass. Took out my initial party without breaking a sweat he did. Other than that very very fun game, and now I'm contemplating what to buy in the shop.

I am heavily biased in its favor by my delight at having a shiny new computer and hence being able to play RM games again, but with that said, this is like the most amazing game ever and I've barely even begun *playing* it.

Really amazing use of Yanfly's work to its absolute fullest.

This game is so good as a game that I don't even want to talk about how good it is, I just want to brag about how good I am at playing it.

This will seriously be the cornerstone of my review.
I gave this game a whirl after you mentioned it- And well. It's definitely interesting. I am currently being a moron, and going through dungeons in an attempt to genocide -everything- and farm up as much delicious stats and essences as possible. But, well. That's how I roll xD.

Still. It's fun. And once again, I'm finding my adoration for witches being rewarded >>.

>> I need to discern what happens when I die.. This will likely happen soon enough, at my current rate of attempted genocide on everything that moves. (Aha. I found out >> ...Game over screen. Okay.)
