One of Gravity Piper's most important features is the "identify" function which can be called from the command line. It provides the user with vital information about various aspects of the computer's layout. Below are a few examples. I will be adding another one every day.
>ITEM NAME:
Identify
>ITEM DEVELOPER:
user_rlondon
>ITEM TYPE:
utility program
>ITEM SECURITY:
D-level
>ITEM SUMMARY:
Identify will display information on the item of your choosing. Some items are not covered here and some items are restricted to only those with admin-level clearance.
>TO USE:
Call "identify" from the command line. It takes one parameter: the name of the item which you wish to identify.
>NOTE FROM USER_RLONDON:
This is probably the most useless identify entry of all time. Even more useless than "type."
------------------------------
>ITEM NAME:
Blue Sentinel Cleaner Script
>ITEM DEVELOPER:
user_rlondon
>ITEM TYPE:
program
>ITEM SECURITY:
A-level
>ITEM DESCRIPTION:
A series of scripts designed to remove self-replicating code from Blue Sentinel's memory.
>TO USE:
Call 'compile' with 'cleaner' and the name of the program you wish to delete as parameters.
>NOTE FROM USER_RLONDON:
Don't get all footloose and fancy with the cleaner scripts. Higher level scripts require more resources. Start off with the basic garbage collectors. If those don't work, then send in the heavy artillery.
------------------------------
>ITEM NAME:
Refrigerant
>ITEM DEVELOPER:
Various
>ITEM TYPE:
Computer Resource
>ITEM SECURITY:
B-level
>ITEM DESCRIPTION:
Because a large number of superconductors were used in the construction of the Blue Sentinel, it must constantly be kept at very low temperatures. This is accomplished by bathing many of the computer's parts in liquid nitrogen. If an element runs out of refrigerant, it will cease to work until more is provided.
>TO USE:
To access/change the amount of refrigerant being used by a given processor, access the Hardware icon via the menu.
>NOTE FROM USER_RLONDON:
To date, two interns have needed emergency medical attention because they were idiots around the refrigerant. Respect the liquid nitrogen and you probably won't lose any fingers.
------------------------------
>ITEM NAME:
Graphical Menu System
>ITEM DEVELOPER:
user_msmith
>ITEM TYPE:
utility
>ITEM SECURITY:
D-level
>ITEM DESCRIPTION:
A user-friendly way to navigate through the Blue Sentinel's infrastructure. Replaced the old text-only navigational system.
>TO USE:
Call 'menu' from the command line. Navigate through the icons with the arrow keys and press 'Enter' when the icon you wish to select has changed from green to white.
>NOTE FROM USER_RLONDON:
Some older (and therefore wiser) researchers are of the opinion that everything was simpler when we didn't have to deal with this "graphical" b---s---.
>SECOND NOTE FROM USER_RLONDON:
Apparently the identify logs now censor certain words. W-----l------ hippies.
------------------------------
>ITEM NAME:
IRC
>ITEM DEVELOPER:
user_rlondon
>ITEM TYPE:
utility
>ITEM SECURITY:
D-level
>ITEM DESCRIPTION:
An implementation of IRC (Internet Relay Chat) that can be run directly out of the terminal. It allows researchers to communicate without with one another without leaving their work stations.
>TO USE:
Call "chat" from the command line. It takes no parameters.
>NOTE FROM USER_RLONDON:
Although chat works on Blue Sentinel, it is considered poor form to use the supercomputer for IRC. This comment is directed at you, Liam.
------------------------------
>ITEM NAME:
admin
>ITEM TYPE:
type
>ITEM DESCRIPTION:
A researcher with level-S security codes. Is the only user-type capable of editing and configuring the Blue Sentinel's kernel.

>ITEM NAME:
Remote Video Camera Viewer
>ITEM DEVELOPER:
user_rlondon
>ITEM TYPE:
utility
>ITEM SECURITY:
C-level
>ITEM DESCRIPTION:
When called will display a live feed from one of the three cameras monitoring the Blue Sentinel. This allows researchers to keep an eye on the various parts of the computer without needing to leave their work station.
>TO USE:
Call 'camera' from the command line. Takes one parameter, the location which you wish to see. Acceptable locations are "console", "blocA", and 'blocB".
>NOTE FROM USER_RLONDON:
Due to an update in university policy, "women's_locker_room" is no longer an acceptable parameter. At least it was fun while it lasted.
