The script I used for my sideview battle system is one of Victor Sant's. i found it on his wordpress blog Here There is a full user guide here And a tutorial here

I had alot of trouble with this actually, setting it up involed using the basic module and the actors battlers script. i also had to modify the basic sprite sheet so that row one didnt face forward, but sideways. This is the first editable script i've used, so I'm sure it's a little buggy, but let me know what you think and if you want ot use it but need help I may be able to at least share with you how I got mine to work. I am in no way an expert.
