The year is 199X. One year ago, Tohno Takaki's girlfriend, whom he has known since childhood, moved away from him to live with her aunt. It was tough for both of them, but the two have kept in contact by writing letters ever since.
Now, however, Takaki must also move. It may be a long time before the two of them are ever able to see each other again, so they agree to meet. Unfortunately, Takaki's train is delayed by a snowstorm. If he were to wait for the tracks to clear, he may miss his last chance to see Akari. The choice is clear: he must set out on foot in order to meet with her on time...
Based on the anime Byousoku 5cm by Makoto Shinkai. Developed for the RMN 5-year anniversary contest, with the theme of "Bad videogame adaptations".

Also, holy crap. Makoto Shinkai. I don't think I've seen any of his other stuff, but I thought Place Promised was weirdly appealing. Time to actually watch Byousoku 5cm. It's the only way to properly research this game.
