First of all, I want to thank
SorceressKrysty for taking the time to review my newbie game. She made some very valid points that I need to address in upcoming revisions/builds.
One of the things I've gotten feedback about from more than a few different people is "it feels like there's 3 different art styles in the game". There's the RPG Maker VX standard issue face pictures, the ones I've gotten from face maker (on the web) and my own art I've thrown in. So indeed it
IS three different art styles. I'm not sure if I should address this in the demo or just wait and implement it in the "acutal" game.
Currently my goal is to finish Act I of the game and release that as a stand alone. There's a total of four Acts to the game and I'd release them at each stage. When it's all done, I'd release it in its entirety.
Another point made was the battle systems and enemies need to be fixed. It's not good policy to be pulling the "I'm a newbie" card but I've been working with RPG Maker VX
for almost a month. The fact that I kinda got the hang of eventing in that period of time and produced a working (albeit flawed) demo is nothing short of amazing. It's going to take time for me to get things down and figure out more how things work in RPG Maker VX. As of right now, I don't know how to get into the coding part and configuring it line by line of code. Time/trial and error/tutorials will eventually add to my skill set and I'll be able to modify the engine much more to get it customized the way people are used to having it. I think I set myself up for unrealistic expectations of having a (passable) demo that would be pleasing to my audience. In all my NaGaDeMo fervor and zeal I pushed through with working demo... just one that wasn't satisfactory.
Back to the drawing board!
Speaking of art, you can see the current lineart of Anysa and Lema up at my deviantART pages. I
will be posting the full watercolor versions later down the line.
