Maranda is basically a giant cutscene, illustrating a great FF6 fanfic that can bring a tear to your eye.

Maranda has no gameplay in it whatsover. All you have to do is sit back, relax, and hit the Enter key every so often. Brickroad has done an amazing job of illustrating a FF6 fanfic story. Normally I hate fangames and fanfics, but after the first couple of opening scenes, I got really interested.
The story itself is very gripping. The events take place some time before FF6. Terra and General Leo, following the orders of Gestahl and the Empire, occupy a small village called Maranda. General Leo, being the kind-hearted person he is, orders all of his troops to be polite and kind to the citizens. Terra and Leo are welcomed warmly to the village. Things change when the Empire withdraws the two, and replaced them with Celes. At the time, Celes wasn't the nice person we know in FF6. She was an evil bitch, who encouraged her troops to bully the citizens, and who killed innocents. A secret underground resistance against Celes and the Empire began forming throughout town, but nothing was enough to put a stop to it. I won't spoil the story for you. Just go play the game.
While playing, it actually feels like you're watching a movie. The scenes are designed very well, and the dialogue is always fresh, realistic, and entertaining. Needless to say, all graphics are ripped from FF6, and all the music is FF6 MIDIs from vgmusic.com. The mapping was truly great, and looked worthy of being in FF6 itself. There were a few design errors here and there, but nothing major.
All-in-all, Maranda is a game that you just have to see. The story is well thought-out and always keeps you interested. This is probably the only text-heavy game that doesn't bore me. Great job, Brickroad! I'd love to see more games like this.
