These are (some of?) the main characters in Kismet: Privateer.

Zander Lestrand

Age: 29
Birthright: Karcist (Mage) Commoner.
Class: Evoker.
Weapon Proficiency: Light Blades, Crossbows, Rods and Staves.
Mini-Bio: Coming from somewhere "even less interesting than here", Zander doesn't like to talk much about his past, perhaps because something dark and dire befell him, and perhaps because it didn't, and he has no particular reason or excuse for being the way it is. That is to say, cold, businesslike, and avaricious.

Zander holds his professionalism highly, having earned more good reputation than hard currency in the ten years or so he has been a professional sellsword and wizard-for-hire. He does not suffer slights against his martial prowess easily. With "settling down" a possibility that seems substantially distant, Zander is content to travel the world, visit exotic locales, meet interesting people, and get paid to kill them.

Davan Kersey

Age: 27
Birthright: Karcist (Adept) Commoner.
Class: Dragonfist Adept.
Weapon Proficiency: Who needs weapons? His fists are lethal weapons. But, appropriately, he can also equip fistload weapons and claws.
Mini-Bio: Davan was raised and trained in the Ikosu Monastery, brought up in the ancient art and philosophy of the Dragonfist style. Until he was twelve years old, when the Dragonfist monk's ancient enemies, the Mistwalkers, settled the feud for good by burning the monastery Davan grew up in to the ground and killing everyone inside it. Davan was the only survivor, and fell into the unenviable position of being the last of his kind.

Five years later found a seventeen year old Davan getting falling down drunk and face-pounding out his aggression and desire for revenge in a series of pointless bar brawls. That is how Zander found him, bailing him out of a particularly ugly situation he'd gotten himself into, and then helping him finally get his long delayed revenge on the Mistwalker clan...a story for another day. The end result was that Davan became deeply indebted to Zander, the two of them forging an inseparable partnership. While he may seem to put his foot in his mouth often, and do most of his thinking with his not inconsiderable muscles, Davan's oafish facade and incessant braggadocio belie a surprising level of both wisdom and sensitivity.

Princess Mia Grimaldi

Age: 19
Birthright: Mundane Royalty.
Class: Thief.
Weapon Proficiency: Light Blades, Bows.
Mini-Bio: Mia was born both rich and beautiful, but had asked for neither of those things any more than she'd asked for her mother to die in childbirth. Mia did not respond well to the constant desires and marriage proposals of local courtiers, nor did she appreciate the constant looming threat of being married off by her father, King Leonard Grimaldi, to cement a political alliance with some nearby kingdom. Nor did she enjoy a lifestyle where she had done absolutely nothing to earn absolutely the finest luxury. Mia was a problem child from a young age, graduating from tomboyish pranks and antics to disguising herself and escaping to the town square to perform petty crimes for the thrill of it. Mia has no appreciation for the gold and jewels and finery she was born with, but has developed an almost kleptomaniac enthusiasm for the baubles she can steal with her own two hands. Of course, she is just as likely to give her pilfered booty to the poor as to steal from the...anyone nearby who isn't looking.

When she accepted her betrothal to Viceroy Walter Kale, King Leonard's trusted adviser, the kingdom took it as a sign of (finally) increasing maturity. However, with King Leonard Murdered and the Princess kidnapped, the succession of Umbria Kingdom has fallen seriously into question.

The Magpie

Age: ???
Birthright: Unknown. Believed to be a Charismatic Adept, or an Enchanter or Illusionist Mage.
Class: ???
Weapon Proficiency: Light Blades.
Mini-Bio: The wandering singer, poet, and bard known only as the Magpie came to the kingdom of Umbria only six months ago. He was immediately accepted by the courtiers, the King, and his young daughter, and became a regular (and consistently charming) part of court life. Now The Magpie has vanished, leaving behind the King dead, and taking with him, presumably, both the Princess Mia and the Jewel of Shadows, Umbria's national heirloom.
