In the world of Midgard, logia is a force of both technology and nature. From a gameplay standpoint, it is the means by which the player can execute fantastic spells that are much more effective than conventional weapons. The art of logia is considered to be an extension of the the spirit, its power flows to the fingertips when the name of a verse is chanted.
Obtaining a logia verse is the primary means by which magic can be used, and they are fortunately sold in shops across the world. Once a logia verse is purchased, all party members can use that spell as long as they have equipped a weapon that is compatible with it. Remember as well that unarmed fighters can also use logia, but it is restricted to the weapon attribute that they are naturally aligned with.
Classes of Logia
There are six recognized elementary divisions of logia arts, each originally developed and taught by a specific school. Their function and effectiveness is thus related to each.
1. Healing Magic: Does not possess the power to bring harm to others. Health and status is meanded by the power of healing.
2. Green Magic: Evokes the fury of the earth. Some logia of this category is capable of drawing out miasma from the core of Midgard to poison foes.
3. Blue Magic: Originally an art reserved to the merfolk, the power of the dark and icy deep has found its way ashore. Humans perfected blue magic and created several hexing verses that are now common.
4. Red Magic: Logia spells that personify the embodiment of destruction and the god of war. They were first widely utilized by the fire giant Surt in his conquest of Northern Asgard. Also known as the burning arts.
5. Black Magic: Logia of this type thrives on the darkness that perpetuates night in order to harm its victims. Usage of black magic was once forbidden due to its association with necromancers, but now its usage is common throughout Midgard.
6. White Magic: Wishing to share the majestic aura of the heavens with troubled humans, the god Balder brought an orb filled with a fragment of the sun to Midgard. It was studied by scholars over the ages and resulted in the creation of white magic, the bane of shadows.
