Elements Questions

Pictured here is the Elements chart for Diabolica. As I've been playtesting the game and other such things I've began to wonder: is this too convoluted? Is having this many elements that interact with each other needlessly complicating the game?

It would take some time to complete, but I could whittle it down to 5 or less elements and restructure many of the equipment/spells/weapons to match this. But then again, how my elements are set up now could be perfectly fine?

I need some input on this, so please feel free to chime in with whatever you have to say!

It seems like a lot in my opinion. My games have eight at most and they have a polar opposite. Wind and earth for example, are weak to each other and resist the like element. All others deal normal damage. I prefer to keep it simpler, so the player doesn't have to experiment too much. (My games are designed to be more accessible than something like Shin Megami)
More elements are much like using big numbers - it makes the game more complex, but allows more fine tuning as you can make finer adjustments to how many elements a character has access to.

I would recommend against too many elements unless the elemental battle system is a centerpiece of your game.

The reason is it's simply too hard for a player like me to keep track of that many elements. In a case like this I'd probably just equip the stuff that gives me the highest stats and maybe change it up if I enter an area that really requires an element of a particular type.

This is an interesting perspective!

This is more of what I believe the problem may be. Thank you. I might strive to make Elements more integral in the battle system to address this issue!
