“A human’s greatest weakness is her mortality.”
Instead of utilizing jump scares and psychological drama, Serenity is a survival horror game with a bright, colorful aesthetic and (relatively) sane characters. Led by an omnipresent entity who introduces herself as “Angel,” a teenager named Valentine must explore a bizarre chain of locations to seek and destroy titanic Guardians. And if she dies, she must do it again, and again, until she finally gets it right.
Serenity’s story is mostly linear, but each time Valentine must attempt the cycle, this strange world shifts and rearranges; the journey will always be a perilous one, but the obstacles will rarely be the same. Angel’s whims as to who Valentine gets to assist her, and Valentine’s ability to keep them alive (or to take away their life in exchange for power), will determine whether or not Valentine eliminates the Guardians and lifts her binding ribbons’ curse.
With a solid strategy and maintained positivity, Valentine can dissipate the fog and discover the truth behind her predicament. Poor planning and negativity can only doom her to an endless cycle of following Angel’s capricious orders. Do you have what it takes to unveil the secrets of the Guardians? Or will you sink into the poisonous mist of despair?
Disclaimer: Serenity is most likely not suitable for those under 15 years of age. This game has no affiliation with Joss Whedon’s cult hit, Firefly. Don’t worry Caz, there’s a sheep.
