Perfect for a night of insomnia
Some days ago, I was on a trip. At night in the hotel room I didn't feel sleepy at all so I turned my laptop on. In my external hard drive I have a folder with a collection of RPG games I played years ago, I spotted this game in there. I had a vague memory about it being short and leaving an impression on me so I gave it a try.
The visuals were the first thing to strike me, they look cute but really creepy as well, If a haunted game exists, I'm sure it looks just like this! The background music was creepy but also nostalgic. I wandered around and explored the first room and got myself killed a couple of times x) When I saw the gun I had this foreboding feeling that something bad would happen if I touched it and so I avoided it. I wandered aimlessly and for some reason as the timer was running out the game started to get to me. I felt uneasy and really wanted to help this girl escape. So I went back for the weapon, I was way more on edge than I should be because I had these vague memories. When the ghosts suddenly appeared and started chasing me I was genuinely freaked out! Fortunately they're not as formidable a foe as I thought they'd be. Eventually the timer ran out and I was offed again. Next time I was determined to make it. I got completely immersed in the game, got the gun and sprinted through the haunted maze not knowing where I was going or what I was doing. Although I was completely lost I somehow managed to get the last seal as the timer was about to run out. I didn't know what to do with it but a remnant of a memory guided me towards the elevator where I was finally able to find salvation... or not.
I ended having weird dreams that night and it sort of changed the way I looked at the hotel's hallways for the rest of the trip, as if they could change any second. The game might be short, unpolished and unfinished but I quite loved that feeling of being lost and sprinting for dear life in this haunted place that sort of mirrors where I am while the tiniest voice in my head helps me reach the way out.
