Listen - Just a game.

Hello!
Listen is a short Rpgmaker game made by a team of german developers: Alexis Hiemis, Crazy_Leen, Denna, Evrey, Pilzchen. This was an RPG Maker XP adventure game released in 2015 for an RPG Maker Web Contest. Despite not being listed as complete, IT IS a complete game and will take you about 1 hour and 30/45 minutes from the beginning to the end.

The game start with the puppetman, a sort of mannequin with a hat that is unseen and ignored by almost everyone on earth. Almost! Because the puppetman, that is named Tom Tom, is a magical creature that can be seen and heard only by those that are close to death, and in this game Tom Tom encounters a little girl that is living in a german hospice. And that's the beginning of an adventure... an adventure titled "Listen" because Tom Tom is looking for someone that will be there to listen to his story! (ok, so you know that this will be a very emotional adventure)


Guess what will happen next...

We start Listen with selecting the language of the game, then we're immediatly presented with the puppetman and this puzzle game adventure begins. Do not worry, puzzles aren't really difficult, but they're good, I especially liked the playhouse tower. There are also tasks and parts in which you have to figure out what to do to progress, for example when leaving the hospital you need to give the right answers to a couple of doctors. That's not really a puzzle, but wrong choice will mean to repeat the task.

Visually the game is excellent: mapping is really good, there are some large areas that are full of little details and clearly carefully crafted. I do not mind the absence of original assets, because these found here are selected and used really well and also the animations are good. The custom menus (starting from the beautiful main menu!) are also pretty well made, and I found no problems or bugs, also cutscenes are well made and never too long, and the story is of the right length.
Music isn't original but it was carefully selected and it's very good, emotional.


Muscle Man??? Impossible! The tag says "Cry-Baby", not Muscle Man!

Final Verdict
Listen - just a game is a bittersweet and well made emotional story, that is the main part of the game. This cannot in fact be defined as a "puzzle game" but rather as an adventure, but a really good one: the cast is well defined in broad strokes, the main characters, Tom Tom the puppetman and the girl are likeable and every interaction they make is memorable. The world is very lively and well... it's a little great story. So, since the site is no more but you've still chance to download it, give it a try! It was good at the time, and it's still a good game now!
