Summary

Prom Dreams is a freeware romance/horror adventure game created with RPG Maker VX Ace.

You are Kyle Mason, a soft-spoken, popular senior at the elite St. Giles Academy. After a traumatic breakup with a girl from his old school, Kyle is eager to move on with his life - and his senior prom, he believes, will be the perfect opportunity to do just that.

With the help of his nosy best friend and the rest of the school, Kyle must win the hands and hearts of one of three girls: the cute, bubbly junior, Neela Devar, the brash basketball MVP, Maggie Pham, or the cool, intelligent class leader, Brooke O’Keefe. It’s up to you to ensure the perfect prom night!

Or… is it?

Prom Dreams features:

-A combination of light-hearted dating sim antics and cerebral, puzzle-based horror gameplay (Think Tokimeki Memorial meets Corpse Party.)
-An original story with multiple routes and endings
-An (almost) entirely original soundtrack
-Subtle changes to the game environment as the horror slowly unfolds
-Three unique sidequests
-Multiple unique death/Game Over scenes
-A hint system for struggling players, contingent upon getting Game Overs
-A total of 9-13 hours of gameplay. (Yes, really. Trust me on this one.)

Important note: As a horror game, Prom Dreams will contain scenes of graphic violence, sudden noises, and other disturbing content. It is NOT recommended for the faint of heart or anyone under the age of 16.

Hi there! Sorry to see you're stuck; you can refer to the walkthrough here for help with that particular puzzle. :D I'm so glad you like it so much, and I hope the rest of the game is fun for you!
I played this game and I really enjoyed it. A few things I really like to point out:

- The mixture beetween love story and horror is exactly what I looked for as I found this game. I found what I was searching and it was better than I thought.

- Your system of horror. I am honest I played many horror games and read creepy stories as well. I hadn't had shivers down the spine like this before since... well... for a long time ago. Short "stealthy" horror events which became more awefull with time are much better than a monster which is chasing you.

- The multilingual dialoques sometimes. It is a school right? And the pupils learn foreign languages right? And I was so satisfied as someone suddenly talked my native language haha.

- The endings. Really you did a good job with all three endings. I absolutely hate these endings where everyone is happy and everything is wonderful.

You put a lot of love (and also hate :-) ) in this game. I'd like to play more games like this.

Hi there, thank you so much for playing and I'm so happy you enjoyed it! :D

I'm especially glad you liked the horror aspects; I loved programming the haunting events and I'm excited that they managed to creep at least some people out. ;)

Yeah, St. Giles has classes in French, Spanish, and German. The game also has snippets in languages like Latin, Hebrew, and Portuguese, though you have to reaaaally look hard for them.

As for the endings... (Spoilers under the hide box)

I believe there's a place for "everyone's happy" endings, especially for adventure games, traditional RPGs, etc. If every ending were tragic, a lot of us wouldn't be motivated to complete these kinds of games. But there are some stories which do better with a bittersweet ending at best, and I felt this was one of them. One of the points that I wanted to really emphasize was the gravity of Dolores' crimes and their irreversible impact. I also felt that, despite her being worthy of pity for what she's been through, she should not receive easy absolution or the romance she wanted, as that would have cheapened her as a villain and character. Hopefully, what I did do with the Good Ending illustrated my intentions, but either way I'm glad you received all the endings well. :D

If you'd like, you can take a quick survey about the game here - this'll help me plan for my next game as well as fix bugs and the like on Prom Dreams. Thanks again for playing and Happy New Year! :D

Aaaah, thank you!! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! :'D
I absolutely loved this game and was wondering what script did you use for the status menu? With kyle's face and items.

Also what script was used for item menu when interacting with puzzles? and the lighting effects in the hallways etc (windows).

thank you!

Thanks for the kind words and I'm happy you enjoyed the game! For the menu, I used a script by an RPG Maker Central user named pencilcase27, though I can't seem to find the script itself ATM. The key item menu is native to the VX Ace engine and is done through eventing; here's a tutorial on how to use it. Finally, the hallway lighting effects came as a part of the graphics pack I bought; no scripting was needed since I could place the light directly on the map and made it a "star" tile so that it'd go over the player's head. :D Hope that helps!!

I don't think it's a necessarily wrong place. However, I believe there's a "Let's Play" option if users try to submit media to a gamepage? There's a button/link to do that just below the title-section. Note that the resulting page will go through a submission process, and adds Makerscore to your account, if/when accepted.
