Really, really good!

INTRO

Pilgrim's Road is a fantastic game. One of those games that you open and find yourself immersed into the world right away. I can't believe how good this game looks, it has that retro look that you don't find in games today anymore. It obviously resembles the Fallout series, which you will notice if you've ever even heard of it.

GRAPHICS

As obviously mentioned in the introduction to this review, this game resembles the good old Fallout series, the 2D graphics are really pleasing to the eyes, the character models have that old-school feel about them, they are all ugly, but still pretty because of the style that they incorporate.

GAMEPLAY

The gameplay of this game is different from the gameplay of the other RPG Maker games, as is almost every other category of this game. There is no random loot in this game, unlike in the other games. You also have a character creator in the beginning and a random dice roll that decides the stats of your characters. There is no other way to describe Pilgrim's Road other than being a beautiful, old school RPG. The combat is challenging and fun, but also satisfying.

SOUND

The sounds and atmospheric music of Pilgrim's Road accompanies the game's style perfectly. It sets up this dystopian, futuristic, post-apocalyptic feel that the game had and pushes it even further, more than the visuals even. This game oozes atmosphere from just seeing it, but the limited amount of its sounds is gratifying and surprisingly efficient in setting it up even further from its competition.

VERDICT

This game is a true surprise in every imaginable way. It has an abrupt ending, as it even states in the description of the game, but other than that, it is close to being perfect. I will surely keep this game on my computer and replay it at least once more, but probably more than that. I have no options, but to give this game the maximum score possible.

Thanks for the review. It was a fun event and I'm glad people enjoyed what I came up with.

Truth be told, a lot of the reason they look as bad as they do is because I didn't really know what I was doing.

I had zero idea how to use the specularity maps that Fuse provided, my lighting was primative, and this was the first time I'd actually dealt with animated characters. I'm still not very good, but, hopefully if I ever finish the graphical revamp they'll look nicer.
