Is it bad to say as a Canadian that I care more about the NBA Finals than the Stanley Cup Finals this year?

I mean, I see no possible win-win scenario for me regarding both teams. If New York wins, than that just makes the Canucks management look even more like idiots for letting our most winningest coach in franchise history walk away and win a cup in his first year with one of our biggest eastern arch rivals from the 90’s; but if the Los Angeles Kings win, then you got a team that has won two Stanley Cup’s in the last three years after winning basically nothing since the franchise started there back in 1967. It’s like how the Boston Red Sox went from being cursed and being complete chokers to winning three world series titles in a ten year span, while the team you regularly cheer for you just want them to win one. DON’T YOU JUST HATE THAT!?
Anyways, at least with the NBA Finals you have two teams that have won multiple championships over the years and have a ton of star power on the floor and deserve to both be there and put on quite the show. And besides, the last series basically came down the wire, and I trust that this one will do just the same. Plus, I have no real animosity towards either team, so either outcome is good (although I slightly prefer Miami in this situation).
So I’m turning turncoat for a few days and turning on over to the hardwood. Hockey, come back to me when the draft starts.
I can’t be the only one here...can I?

Yes it is bad to say that. And thats what the Canucks get for having a PLAYER AGENT be the GM for YEARS.
Losing the winningest coach, the best 1-2 goalie tandem in the league, AND pissing off the core players like Kesler. Good jaerb.
The biggest mistake, though, is deciding to become "more like Boston", ie- goons. No one likes watching goons play hockey (except people in boston and philly), no one likes being a buffoon goon (except Lucic and Marchand), no one likes playing as one, and it doesn't work unless your lineup consists primarily of big dumb lummoxes (like boston). You also need a whiny coach who instructs his players to be goons and then whines to the media when the other team fights back (like Julien). Also, you need to have the leagues supplementary discipline board in your back pocket (like boston). Lastly, and most importantly, you need to be an original 6 franchise so that you get preferential treatment by the league.

The truth you speakof hurts. :(
I’d say things have gone south ever since we traded Cody Hodgson, our best prospect at the time, to the Sabers for Zack Kassian… Or was it when we traded Michael Grabner away for Keith Ballard…? Ugh…
At least we’re keeping Alexander Edler on board for next year.
Yup… Alexander Elder…
Who was -39 last season...
The worst plus minus in the league...
At the time it was a good idea...

plus/minus is a TEAM stat attributed to an individual. it is a terrible metric to go by. it is also highly situational (ie- defensive zone starts vs offensive, goalie's save percentage, whether you play on PP or PK, etc...). you can safely ignore it.
EDIT:
and like I said, things have gone south ever since Canucks decided to become more GOON. which lead to things like the Kassian trade and hiring Loudmouth McAngryCoach who's all about playing star players to death in all situations and ignoring the team's depth.
The Canucks had a great possession team, which took them all the way to within 1 win of the Cup, before "possession stats" were all the rage. They threw that all away to mimic some goon mantra thinking that that is how you win, when in fact that is just how goon squads like Boston win.

True, I guess I can’t fault the guy about that.
But he sure hasn’t been the same since the back injury in 2011. But then again, anybody would be after an horrific injury like that.
