Can somebody explain the Canadian legal system and such? I hear it is much different than the United States, which is to be expected.

Don't worry! After a few more Harper Conservative majorities, the Canadian legal system will be indistinguishable from the USA one.

i don't know much about canadian politics.

A less corrupt and more tolerable legal system is a huge part of the appeal of Canada, and from the small amount I know the Canadian education system seems better as far as equal access to education.
