Seriously though, the Marcellus sprite looks like it'll fit in more with the other sprites, I like it.

Pots/crates giving out random goods

I rather like finding items in random containers, but at the same time I hate searching everything on every map, so maybe if you decide to do this you can implement some sort of subtle indicator that there's an object inside them. Something like the crate being open, a pot on it's side, or even just a ? or ! that appears above the character's head when you're near one.

Number 1 seems like the best choice since, as you said, It would work for any type of encounter. Besides, it's pretty difficult to "steal" someone's encounter idea. They've probably all been used in some way or another before.

The Safe Zone thing sounds good too, it might be interesting to mix it up, maybe have one safe zone per dungeon near the boss fight, and then one or two others throughout the dungeon (depending on how long it is) that aren't safe.

What kind of bosses do YOU like?

I like types 1 and 3, not so much for types 2 or 4. Type 5 sounds pretty cool, reminds me of the giant dinosaurs in FFXII that would eat other fiends in the desert. Type 6 is an alright choice, though usually the extra power also means extra weaknesses, so that's something to consider.

Just about done with Main Menu revision...

Well, it's true that they all have a purpose, but it seems like combining a few of them would clear up some space there. Petra + Abilities, Equipment + Customize, and maybe have the HDC be changeable from each character's status menu. You probably wouldn't even have to literally combine the Petra or Equipment ones since you already have them set to quick switch to those menus.

And Milestones seem like the type of thing you'd access from your base, like a trophy room. It doesn't seem absolutely necessary to see them on the go at all times.

I feel like dream powers should be accompanied by ridiculously intricate and pretty dream art when you use it, but I ended up drawing (this) instead. Yeah...

Still, it sounds like a nice plan you've got there. Tutorial levels can be a pretty nice feature if they're done well.

Old Save Files

Well, while it was nice to have done all that I did on my current save file, I'd probably want to replay the game to check out the changes anyway, so the old one is pretty much totally unimportant.

Our goal for today...

Hm, for characters, maybe have Average Level, Highest Level, Highest Damage Done (Though that might go under battles actually) and maybe how often you used each character in battle.
