I think it's because it relies so much on atmosphere, which is so hard to craft. I've only got the first two maps, but this portion is seriously ON POINT. If this doesn't start speeding up by - well, very soon! - then I'm going to have to start afresh and just churn out maps, place tons of events in them and battles and minigames in random order and give it an end scenario. In fact, that'll probably be more fun than what I'm doing right now. But this one is artistically meaningful! ( It just needs a month to marinate. :( )

Sounds pretty normal to me.

If you're going to focus on an atmospheric game, I would suggest getting the game part of it done and out of the way first and THEN decide how to use the art and sound to reinforce the atmosphere. Otherwise, you'll end up with all style and no substance, and we've all played games like that. Plus, as you learn more techniques to increase your visual aspects of the game, you'll be looking back at your old stuff, get dissatisfied with it, and redo it again and again and again.

Just my two cents.

True. Well, I've got the intro out of the way. Hopefully the gameplay portion will be easier. I get the feeling it won't be. Thought I'm going to have to make it be.
