Who's the hottest videogame character?
Rydia's FF4DS incarnation is really pretty and I love her outfit and if I were interested in women I assume I'd think she were hot?
<3 _<3
One of my favorite character designs, if nothing else.

Scribblenauts (NDS). It's awesome.
*high five* Fabulous game. Also playing Great Greed and Terranigma!
Release Something! Day VIII: Journey of the Cursed King [Sign ups]
I'll be releasing a bite-sized RPG in which I showcase a neat idea I had for a battle system, plus a couple other gameplay elements I wanna try out.
Looking for RM buddy
08-31-2009: I'll need your guys' help while I hibernate.
Started playing a few hours ago and I've been taking a lot of notes. Some are about spelling/consistency, some are bugs and weird things, and the rest are just passing thoughts, trivial observations and weary ramblings. Enjoy.
- Too bad that page o' text before the title screen can't stay up long enough to be read.
- Title screen music is lovely. The screen itself is also pleasant!
- Light goes on, light goes off. Light goes on, light goes off. n _n
- The TV and lamp are emitting a sickly green glow. Maybe the computer should as well?
- UN-SUCCESS made me smile.
- No icon for Row?
- Red numbers mean... healing? Oh, so those yellow mousey things absorb physical damage.
- Alex has some skills listed in battle, but when his turn comes around, the only options are Attack, Escape and Row. However, whenever I use choose AutoAttack instead of Manual, Alex will cast Lux or Atra.
- The STANDARD GAME and COMPLETED GAME "faces" in the save menu were an awesome idea.
- "Alex has received his offensive and defensive skills." Aha, that explains it. Why list them in the Skills menu, though, if they're not usable yet?
- The theme that's been playing ever since the sky turned red is awesome and totally fitting and I enjoy it greatly as a battle theme.
- Description for Aging -: "Grants resistance to aging" <-- Missing a period.
- Description for Ice ++: "Adds ice and grants crit +10%.. Consumes 2 SP." <-- Contains an extra period.
- Description for Attack +: "Increase Attack by 10" <-- Should say "Increases" to be consistent with other skills
- Other skills with inconsistent tense: Status -, Regen 1/2/3, Focus 1/2/3, Evade Physical, Lifeguard,
- Description for Fire ++: "ATK +10 and adds fire to attacks." <-- Phrasing inconsistent with other Element ++ skills. Oughta be something like "Adds fire and 10 Attack."
- Description for Lightning ++: "Consumes" is misspelt ("Comsumes")
- Description for Half SP Cost: "expenditures" is misspelt ("expendatures")
- Half SP Cost is listed twice in the Perks shop
- Water + costs more than the other Element + skills (450 vs 400)
- Defarto stinks! *bitchwhinemoan*
- Un-success is making me smile less every time I see it.
- Oh, so those red dudes on the bridge are weak against Lightning. Figuring out weaknesses through trial and error can be quite a hassle. Sure hope there's a Scan skill or somethin' later. (edit: previous statement retracted, just remembered what you said about reusing enemies. whew!)
- I went to save after the aforementioned battle, and it still said I had 5 more battles before I could be healed. Shouldn't it be four, or do fixed battles not count?
- Opened the box in the police department: "The party received 3 experiance!" <-- experience misspelt
- Police Department F1, northwest corner: coffee table has the wrong passability setting, or something
- You might consider having the mage things in the PD cause a tad less damage. The fact that they could OHKO some characters before they could act made determining their weakness very difficult. For this reason, it took me four or five tries just to figure it out, nevermind the 2 or 3 subsequent attempts to actually kill them without Victor dying. Or maybe I'm underleveled.
- A treasure chest in what appears to be the meeting room of the PD's first floor caused my game to freeze. You sure weren't kidding when you warned about treasure chests. Or it's a bug. I don't know?
- Tried the chest again. I must be naked, 'cause I'm FREEZIN' in here.
- Tried the chest again. Maybe it'll work if I defeat the monster standing beside it?
- Defeated the monster and tried the chest again, and no luck. Evidently I have yet to dress myself. Let's try the other chest.
- Oh, well whaddaya know? It freezes me, too. Moving on!
- Revival after battle means that allies who fell in combat still receive EXP. Intentional?
- I like that the bulk of my AP comes from selling spare perks rather than straight-up rewards from encounters. It's just kinda cool. :V
- You can circumvent most of the PD's second floor by passing through a wall near both of the staircases, as shown here:
http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/8821/imwalkinonsunshinewhoao.png
- In one of her lines shortly after arriving at the hotel, Nicole says 'to' instead of 'do' in the phrase "How do you figure?"
- aaaaaaaaa those mage things just get scarier and scarier.
- The Purplecats (?) in MS Hotel F1 were pretty scary until I realized how much time they wasted attempted to afflict statuses I already had and drain SP that was already gone.
- Speaking of which, just what does Tired do?
- Speaking of which, I'm tired. Going to bed at the next save point. Maybe.
- AAAAAA SHOCKWAVE WHAT THE HELL i did not see that coming at all! Great, now I'm terrified. D:
- It seems the Purplecats are harmless once they've run out of MP.
- Force Blade costs 1 SP? Weird, I could have sworn it was free last time I checked.
- I'm glad there are so many save points. Otherwise this game would just be cruel. :V
Expect more in the days to come, possibly a review once I finish.

The Final Fantasy I Topic
CrazeWhat I like is that, while monsters don't give much in the way of gil, most of them drop equipment from time to time, and at a reasonable frequency. You can (edit: hypothetically) equip most of your party by fighting the right monsters and supplement your income by selling the leftovers. Even better, the Bestiary tells you what items a monster drops, even if it hasn't dropped for you yet. I'm currently hunting Sharks 'cause apparently, if you're lucky, they may yield Wyrmkillers.
I've found so far that the BIGGEST change in the patch is how you get money - you get next to nothing from monsters, so chests and selling loot are your best ways to get moolah.
The downside is that I'll probably end up overleveled, but if this patch is as cruel as Craze claims, maybe that's not such a bad thing. :V
Naming Conventions - Characters, Spells, and More
Atticus is meh. I don't dislike it, but I wouldn't use it in my game world.
You got me with Icarus, though, I do like that one. It gets big points for beginning with I, the manliest vowel by far. Like, if it were Acarus or Ocarus or something, you'd just get another "meh" from me.

Naming Conventions - Characters, Spells, and More
I've made up plenty of cool names for characters and towns over the years. Had I the sense to write any of them down, I'd probably have a nice, long list of kickass names, and I'd probably cite it for all my nominal needs. Thanks to my inveterate laziness, I'm down to about eight.
In general I try to stay away from IRL names as they fit fantastical settings poorly -- although any real name can easily be exoticized by changing or adding a letter or two. Take for instance, say, Justin and Morgan. Pff, not in my Final Fantasy rip-off, amirite? But after a couple minor replacements, you get Jutrin and Vorgan - crazy. Prime fantasy namery. No one would even notice you were bastardizing your friends' names. Doesn't yield the best results, but it works in a pinch, particularly for those quest NPCs who don't really matter in the long run but spend enough time on-screen to warrant a better name than "Short Bandit" or "Shifty Aphrodisiac Vendor".
I'm also kinda disposed against tacky Latin-esque names. I've yet to hear a name ending with *us that I actually think sounds good. (*as, on the other hand, is always cool!)
For healing items, I was thinking about trying some apothecary-y stuff. In addition to traditional potions and herbs, there are oils, powders, salves, smelling salts, plant extracts and whatnot. There are some cool, flavorful terms out there that don't see much use and have a tad more personality than your typical herbs and potions. Maybe associate different terms with particular (sets of) effects: salves restore HP, oils induce positive status effects, et cetera. Or something.

The Final Fantasy I Topic
Holy damn, that was a grand LP. IKA is my new hero.
Anyway, uh... When I was a wee lad, before I had developed any semblance of a soul -- maybe four years old? -- I'd wake up every morning and immediately boot up my brother's copy of FF1. After hastily forming a FI/TH/BB/RM party (all of which mysteriously shared the given name "AAAA"), I'd make a bee-line for the Temple of Fiends and engage Garland in a decisive battle. The outcome of these gutsy encounters was, unfortunately, uniform defeat - probably 'cause I didn't know how to gain levels or equip equipment.
If nothing else, though, I gotta applaud four-year-old-me's audacity. I'm surprised I even got as far as I did. Nowadays I have a hard enough time reaching Garland in good health with a well-prepared party, let alone underleveled and unequipped.
